Try It, You'll Like It
I had been purchasing spirulina from my local organic grocer for almost $60 a pound. The taste left something to be desired. One of the problems with purchasing organics is the price. I try to purchase as much organics as I can, but sometimes I have to use common sense when allocating my limited funds. One of the issues with purchasing organics is that nothing is completely organic, as the environment we live in ensures that the air and water cannot be hermetically sealed. As anyone who really pays attention to quality knows, companies like Monsanto foul the air, soil and water even in Hawaii. Even India is having issues now with Monsanto. If we get cross pollination of GMO corn into organic fields, what else does the wind deliver, let alone Fukushima tainted sea water. With that said, I am incredibly pleased with this product and am happy it is grown in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, so to speak. The taste is superior, as is the color. If the choice is to take nothing, if you can't afford "organic", this will always be my choice. I have the one pound powder and add it to smoothies or juicing. It is affordable and keeps me in a positive frame of mind, because it keeps me healthy even though it is not quite organic.I grow most of my greens or purchase what I can't grown from local farmers that I know personally. They do not have organic status but grow organically minded. What I eat is far superior to a lot of the garbage I buy in the stores that sell organic. One item is eggs that I used to buy from a large wholesale outlet. One of the issues I had was that the yolks were pale yellow, instead of bright orange. Unhappy chickens eating organic meal does not necessarily mean a superior egg. I now buy only locally grown eggs that are bright orange and of superior taste and quality, but not always 100% organic; it just depends. I could go on, but to give one more example: I will always take a home-made non-organic hamburger over the best burger from a fast food joint. So, choose wisely and try to live as healthy as possible.

A staple amoung superfoods
This has always been one of the most recommended types of spirulina brands that I've seen on my favored (and unbiased) health news sites. There's also a few people in the comments that I ran across that have tried a myriad of other brands - which I have not - and always come back to this one both due to quality and flavor. I obviously prefer the tablets but the smell alone is enough to make me think that even in a powdered form, I'd have no problem adding this to different foods or smoothies.Just do your research, and then research it again. You'll come back. If you know all the benefits of taking spirulina, then you'll want to choose this brand.Update: I just wanted to add that I was brought into the superfood/spirulina world as a result of the myths/benefits of tanning. While many people are uneducated about the benefits of vitamin D, I am not. To avoid going into details of my research and stick w/ the product itself, I will only say that burning of the skin is the worst thing you can do, UV related. That being said, there have been peer reviews that showed how consistent use of spirulina can significantly enhance the body's ability to process UV rays NATURALLY w/out the use of chemically enhanced sunscreens. (This does NOT mean if you are fair skinned - a nationality that does not react well to sunlight, i.e. always burn - that you will NOT burn at all)This company has been around over 20yrs, and the founder of Cyanotech has been in the microalgae field for 35+ years. The price and quality are unbeatable and I cannot stress enough how this and chlorella have significant benefits for you. Do you own research!!**I have not EVER received a product for a discounted price or for free so this is truly an unbiased, and well documented review of a product I've used firsthand, and per my other reviews have used alongside of other products that would normally cause you to burn in natural or artificial sunlight.Disclaimer: No, you cannot take this product for 3 days or 3 weeks and expect to see those results.

No BS here!
first, i am not a fitness or herbal guru.I'm just a 43yo out of shape ex-marine and I have been taking NSP since October of 2011. For the first couple of months i didn't notice anything."notice" is the key word here. During the holiday season the flu and pneumoniawent through my house and my work place with a vengeance. My wife and several coworkers got sick enough to go the hospital. After the holiday's and into the spring it hit me. I did not get sick! not even a sniffle. I have not felt ill, off, crappy, or even light headed since October. i have had a couple of headaches nothing serious, but i do remember indulging some spirits the night before :)Basically i have not been sick or even felt bad for over 6 months, even after getting only 3hrs of sleep last night i feel pretty good actually.I will update this review in another six months. :)3/19/13Not a sniffle!I cannot get sick! Flu, colds, dust... goes through my house and my work. The only thing i got "sick" of, was telling people (family, co-workers) to takes these. No one will listen. Oh well.If you like being sick and miserable Do not take these. Just leaves more for us :)10/29/13Still not sick after 3 Years!

GREAT BRAND OF Spirulina - Just prefer the powder because...
Can just add a teaspoon to a smoothie, which I have pretty much daily and don't have to remember to take the tabs.Love the powder and don't even taste it in my smoothies, mixed with other ingredients.
