Bangkok Travel Guide for Men: Travel Thailand Like You Really Want To

Budget release aimed at the newbie to Bangkoks red light daze
While researching a lengthy trip to S.E Asia a few books like this cropped up in my recommendations and, well, it seemed only reasonable to broaden my literary horizons (purely for reference and research purposes mind you).Anyway, what you get here is a very slim volume of 82 pages and indeed it would be slimmer still if each page was filled up - a number have a photo taking up barely half the page and little else on them. The book is written in a very flowing and casual style with generous spacing and you'll have no trouble reading it in on sitting. There are some very basic facts and ideas behind travel to/from Bangkok itself and some very basic though very pertinent observations around accommodation and the like. A number of must-see tourist attractions are mentioned with photographs of some (all black and white) and there are a number of mentions of different scams to watch out for. However a goodly chunk of the book is taken up with the set up of the adult industry in Thailand. Having never been to Thailand nor indeed a 'go-go' bar in any other destination I've no idea if all that is written is true however it all seems reasonable. There is discussion of a range of tactics to go about securing your regular dose of 'adult exercise' and, again, it all seems reasonable with discussions of different websites and options to pursue. There is discussion of prices too which is of course always fraught and surely a trawl through the internet would get you more up to date pricing structures.A bit of a diversion the book probably isn't really worth it apart from amusement value, there isn't much here that you couldn't glean from the same amount of time spent on the web. It isn't poorly written but then it isn't well written either with a number of editing mistakes thrown in for good measure. The photos are fairly stock standard and the whole thing smacks of being a budget release. Meh, it amused for the hour or so it took to read and might give someone a window into an aspect of Thailand they are curious about.

I think this book will be useful for the first timer but it is lacking
I bought this as an exercise in nostalgia, I've been to Bangkok more than twenty times. For me it was disappointing but I am not the target reader. I think this book will be useful for the first timer but it is lacking, so do your homework. I did not find inaccuracies just lots of omissions. One glaring was "Ladyboys". Love em or hate em ya gotta know about em to avoid getting up to your room with more than you bargained for. It won't take too long before you can spot em. IMHO, avoid Patpong, stick to Nana and Soi Cowboy. At my age though, I go to Thailand for the beaches and the food. Either are worth the price of a ticket.

This is a very good travel guide in general for Bangkok
This is a very good travel guide in general for Bangkok. They do provide a lot of information on the sex side of Bangkok, but they also provide an incredible amount of general information on seeing Bangkok. Overall, I used this guide the most for my Bangkok trip preparation, sightseeing and travel. Probably the best information for me was information on Bangkok dating websites where I met a very sweet, attractive, educated, and proper Bangkok lady prior to my trip that I was able to tour Bangkok and Pattaya beach with. Made for a great vacation.

Superficial and without depth
Contains very little information. Nothing that could not be obtained easily from the Internet. Superficial and without depth. Very short at about 40 pages. Save your money and just search the web.

Very informative.
If you are going to Bangkok buy this book. I have been to Thailand twice and have seen or experienced some of things he talks about in this book.

The sex industry in Thailand exploits victims of human trafficking ...
The sex industry in Thailand exploits victims of human trafficking and forces prostitution upon non-consenting women. This book is revolting in its promotion of sexual abuse of women and the Kingdom of Thailand. For men looking to buy this book or 'learn how to get laid in Thailand,' my suggestion for you is to go f*** yourself, because that's actually legal.
