The Elephant In The Womb

This is what everyone needs to read
I ordered this book during the first month of my pregnancy and went straight to my bookshelf. Read this in my 32nd week when I finally thought of reading something related to the future baby, expecting everything which would guide me through the final days.First thing I come across in the book is a simple piece of advice on how not to treat this book as a GUIDE. And it clearly isn't. This is just a candid tale of a mom -- who seems to be living next door -- raising her genuine concerns without sugarcoating the transition of a woman to a mother. As someone who practically has been in the same place like her - 2 abortions before, the whole want to be a mother but feeling unprepared, and everything happening post that has nothing been short of little shots of reality being told by someone famous. There is no self praise, not a single vibe of being the privilege, no talks of how we just should just accept everything as is. It shows the candid opinion of a woman getting hurt physically & mentally, accepting motherhood in her own terms, trying to readjust to her new life. Something which a working middle class woman would have gone through or will go through.I really don't think I'll ever be able to go to any other book now considering how wonderfully honest it is. And probably the best books i have ever come across.Thank you Kalki for making everything real for people like us. And please make your partners also read this book so that they know what we as woman & mother would go through.

Most candid account of a personal journey.
I liked how it was not a glorified account of pregnancy. It was just what a mother needs to hear. I am far from planning anything similar, and read that more because I am a fan of the author. Someday I will remember the truth from the book, and be thankful that I was neither misguided or overwhelmed after reading this book.

Portrayal of excessive victim mindset
The author seems to portray an excessive victim mindset. Also, too much unnecessary emphasis on sexism. Purely subjective account. Cannot be generalized completely.

Must Read As a Woman and A Man, parent or not
A book that touches upon so many realities of this journey, esp the ones not talked about. Love Kalki, loved reading this. Special shout out for the amazing illustrations, they really helped to live it!

If you want to be a Whining Mother then go for it.
It all about her and her tantrums, not funny at all. just crying about Labour.Looks like she was not ready at all to be a mother.A complete Waste of Money.

Great read for any woman and couple considering having a baby
It's her personal experience with pregnancy - an intimate account that you don't really get to read before considering what it is to carry and birth a child into this world. Relatable, for a certain demographic but worth reading if you fall in it for sure.
