Exactly what I needed
Perfect protection to stop my shrimplets from entering the intake of the HOB plus now gives more grazing area for the shrimp.Even my Corydoras like grazing on the surface.

Essential product for HOB filter intakes tubes!
I originally got these pre-filter sponges to protect my long-finned betta's fins from the intake tube. They're a finer sponge density (not coarse) but they get the job done! I'm glad I got a pack of these because I now have three tanks. No shrimp get sucked up, nor baby fish, and no fins are shredded. Plus, it gives more places for shrimp, snails, and algae-eating fish like otocinclus to graze! Another plus of pre-filter sponges is more bio- and mechanical filtration! These sponges have held up for several months and seem like they'll continue to hold up for a long time.
