OP/TECH USA 1301462 Quick Adjust Sling Strap Adaptor (Black)

Part of Op/Tech's strap system that's not easily obtained from UK suppliers
I have mixed feelings about the Op/Tech USA system. One could argue that the various straps, slings and attachments make it the most versatile system on the market. Equally, however, one might say that there are so many options that it's all a huge rip-off designed to make you buy more and more bits until you have what works best for you.Certainly, I've bought so many of Op/Tech's slings, straps and connectors (not all of them from Amazon as some can be found cheaper online elsewhere) that I could attach several cameras. However, if I'd bought just the shoulder strap pad and this Quick Adjust, I could probably have avoided the expense of most, if not all, of the other bits and bobs!Like all Op/Tech's kit, this is well-made, strong and reliable. I'd have no hesitation in recommending it to my best friend. The strap pad (the comfy, stretchy, grippy bit that fits over your shoulder) attaches to this webbing sling by its Uni-Loop connectors. You place the strap over your shoulder and a quick tug on the webbing loop of the Quick Adjust makes the whole thing shorter and thus tighter against your body - great for security of your valuable equipment in crowds or when bending over. Lifting the plastic tab makes it longer, returning it to your waist again. Simple.I just wonder why this isn't fitted as standard to the Op/Tech 3501242 Utility Strap, which is more or less the same thing but without the adjusting bit. I guess it comes back to the question of versatility or rip-off.EDIT:Since writing this review, I've discovered you can buy the shoulder strap with the Quick Adjust already fitted (see: Optech X-Large Utility Sling Quick Adjust Camera Strap - Black) - but it costs more than the shoulder strap with webbing attached (OP/TECH Utility Strap Sling - Black ) plus this quick adjust strap as an extra! What did I say about versatility...?

Five Stars
What can I say, but it does exactly what it is designed to do.

A great strap, but could be better with a slight change in what is included
If you have their Pro Strap or even a Canon Professional Services strap, you can use this to change them into a really nice sling strap. I love the Op/Tech line of products as the connector system allows for a ton of flexibility and options to suit each person. Why did I give it 4 stars instead of 5 then? Because the connectors that attach to the camera are just too short. The connectors are so short that when you attach them to your camera, the plastic portion often rubs or it is much harder to get your fingers on the camera under the straps as it hangs on your side. The solution... Buy their XL camera connectors, but the strap should just come with them standard. The longer connector straps are an absolute necessity if you have a gripped camera or a 1D series. (or Nikon equal)

A good way to fix the subpar op/tech straps
I'm not a big fan of this brand's straps, but this modification fixes the neck straps and allows them to be used as a sling strap. The quick release works pretty well; with just a bit of practice it can be done one-handed, no complaints there. I'm 5'9" and at maximum length, it's far too long, so I think this product is long enough to be used by even very tall people. My only complaint with this particular product is the two quick connects for the actual camera. Having one male and one female in this arrangement forces a particular installation which cannot be customized. I use my SLR with a vertical grip, so I simply use a single quick connect on the base of the camera and use a single connection point to this strap. I had an extra male uniloop, so I fasten that to a belt loop on my pants and connect that to a female uniloop on the leftside of the camera. A carabiner or other similar add-on could be used.

Not as ordered
I ordered the #1301462 to complement the regular utility strap sling so I could change out the normal part of sling with the adjustable #1301462 strap which was to be 10" longer to help fit right when wearing a winter coat but what I received was the same length as the normal strap. I gave this a rating of 3 due to the wrong length packaged. I need to state that I give 5+ to the customer service of Optech because when I called them of the problem, they acknowledged that they knew of the length problem during a manufacture but could not identify where the error units were sent.Customer service was prompt in sending the proper length unit to correct the wrong one that I purchased. OpTech products are great and I find them to comfortable and normally of great quality. i would have given a 5+ originally if the product was the proper length. Again 5 stars to the customer service of this company!!
