Excellence personified
I have always loved the LaLanes'. There seems to be a conspiracy in this country to keep people both over-weight as well as ill so the petro chemical industry can profit on prescribtion drugs. One example is in the treatment of cancer. When the immune system is at it's weakest, chemo and radiation is prescribed which would be detrimental to a healthy person. Being healthy may be as simple as moderate consistent exercise and a decent diet, and no way this could be better accomplished then by proper use of juicing fresh fruits and vegetables. Carrot jucie in particular seems to be the magic elixer, potion and the path to the 'fountain of youth. It is so good for you that it is the only thing one can drink fresh, where you can feel it working for you immediately. It's probably akin to a car that one has put much needed fresh oil in it to lubricate it's creaky engine and the same goes with the needs of a human body. It needs nutrition, not junk food. I am using juicing to rejuventate both my 84 year old momn and my 55 year old mentally ill brother, and it does wonders for me as well. I am 52, but feel 30 again after just two weeks of jucing. Kudo's, kudo's kudo's. and long live the LaLanes, true American hero's and i love them both!

Informative, inspiring, enjoyable with one point of confusion
I am fairly new to juicing (I don't have a Lalanne juicer, however) and found this book to be very informative about juicing as a way of life. It provides juicing information and the health benefits of every fruit and vegetable I've ever heard of, and some I haven't, inspiring me to try foods I had never considered before. I appreciate that not all of the recipes require you to have a counter full of different vegetables, that some good blends need only a few different fruits/veggies. The book also helped me understand the reason for fresh juicing and the health benefits vs. processed products. One area of confusion, however, was the authors warning about citrus fruits and how their acid content can undermine calcium in bones and teeth. I've read much to the contrary, and although acidity can undermine bones, and citrus is an acidic food, I've read that citrus has an alkalizing effect on the body once it is consumed. My osteoporosis book actually recommends citrus, so I'm not sure which is accurate. This book is easy to read, enjoyable, light, informative, and I plan to continue trying the many different recipes.

Total Juicing Total Health
I'm finding this book to be practical and straight forward. The well thought out format provides simple location to specific health care needs. It offers a wealth of information in layman's terms. For the new "juicer" this is a good resource for how to get started and educating yourself for better health. Counsel on food combinations to address certain health needs is well thought out. Discussions regarding types of juicers and care and maintance makes it an invaluable resource. Due to the publication date of the book, there have been advancements in the nutritional information which makes this resource limited, but valid just the same. I highly recommend this book to anyone. The author's own health and long life makes this book speak for itself.

Good but could be better.....
After reviewing this book I thought it pretty good. It had recipes for the pulp, the vitmins and what ailments the juice is good for. However, it could have been better organized. ex. if you want something to improve skin it would've been better to have it all drinks for skin grouped together. Also while explaining the benefits of juicing it doesn't tell us what any of the downsides are. Also, I think it might could more instruction on some topics such as the juicing for weight loss and detox. It does not explain if you drink it all day, just once a day or if its use yur own judgment. But its still good.

Very useful
Juicing is a new thing for me, but this book was very helpful in putting me on the right track to get started. We started using it to get more vitamins into a cancer patient who was having difficultly eating meals. He'll drink some of the fruit concoctions, however, and we've got lots of choices to keep him interested. It also gives you good hints on juicing in general, caring for the juicer - and even choosing a juicer. Had I gotten it before I got our juicer, I definitely would have used it to help me make the choice. I'd recommend it to others.

Allowed me to see a healthier self
I have been, like the late Jack LaLanne was at one point, a sugarholic. I've been looking for ways to lose all the weight I've put on because of all of that sugar I've consumed, and I've been looking into juicing as a result, and I wanted to buy just one book about juicing. I've listened to Stu's Show for about 3 years now and Jack LaLanne, before and since his passing, was an advertiser, and I remembered Elaine's book, Total Juicing, being mentioned a lot.So, I got it, and started reading, and was totally blown away by what I saw inside that book. I shan't spoil any of the details, but I learned more than a few things from this book. Please, whoever's in charge, please make a Kindle version available!

The original founders of juicing
If you want to know more about the secrets of juicing from the past, then learn about it from the LaLanne family. Jack and his wife revolutionized this industry. Half of the book they share their knowledge about the history and secrets of fresh fruits and vegetables. They tell you in detail why each fruit and vegetable is good or bad for you. The other half of the book is dedicated to recipes. It's good to learn from the past and expand on to your future. I recommend this book for any juicer or health conscious individual. I think this book in conjunction with Reboot with Joe's stuff is excellent.

Perfect for a beginner
This book is perfect for a beginner! It gives you details about each fruit and vegetable and how they go together. It reads like a book not like a receipt book so things aren't as organised as they would be in a regular receipt book. But very good for me to get an idea of how to start juicing. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a way to be healthy.
