Excellent product but not compatible with Indian voltage requirements
Lovely product to be used as a CO2 diffuser for planted aquarium. It completely dissolves the bubbles like an atomizer. However not compatible with Indian voltage. Need to buy a 110v converter separately to use this product. The description should mention this glaring issue.

If you need a wave maker...why not try this?
So, the only reason I took off a star was because I found this filter too be too strong for the intended tank (2.5 Gallon...the product advertises "up to 3 gallons") and community. The fish were having to fight hard against the current. Switching it to the lowest setting was still to powerful...and trying to decrease flow by "thickening up" the filter media both inside and/or outside diminished the suction and filter aspects too much.BUT EVEN WITH THAT INITIAL DISAPPOINTMENT, I was looking into finding a way to added a little current in my larger 30 Gal tank and this actually fit the bill. Sure, I could just get a wavemaker, but using this gives me a three in one package:1. I get a light and controllable water current that is comfortable for this tank's community2. I have a secondary filtration system to help keep things clean3. And it has the ability to aerate the tank (or even defuse CO2 if anyone is seeking that instead).Additional points:1. The chamber is big enough to customize so not only did I switch out the sponge filter there, I added more bio media.2. Super easy to clean and take apart.3. The size is much less bulky or imposing than most of the wave makers I had used.4. The four suction cups prevent it from moving around. To give context about what I mean, one wave maker I used was too strong for my fish. To try and mitigate the current I little, I tried to direct the current to aimed at one of the tank walls. It made the current more manageable, but then the wave maker would start moving on its own because of the jet propulsion.CONCLUSIONSo, do I need another filter and air pump? No. I already have some sponge filters powered by an air pump, and my HOB is doing a really good job at cleaning. However, for the price of many a wave maker, why not have a secondary filter and air pump as part of the package? It's a good fail safe to buy time if I ever need to replace an air pump or if my HOB malfunctions...all that while adding that extra wave maker action...and it is fairly small and easy to keep out of the way, too

Best filter for 5 to 10 gallon tank; may be too powerful for smaller tanks.
THE FOLLOWING REVIEWS ARE FOR ALL OF MY AQUATIC PURCHASES.I always read two dozen or more User Reviews for any product I buy.Amazon is honest and prints both the good and the bad reviews.I bought the following products from Amazon: >•••••> Hagen Marina Ecoscaper Hydrocotyle Silk Plant.I am really pleased with this plant. And the fish like it too . . . no rough edges. It is just as pictured and looks so realistic. >•••••> Hagen Exo Terra Water PLANT, Duckweed. It looks and floats just like real duckweed !I showed it to the aquatics people at Petco and they were impressed. >•••••> Hydor Theo Submersible Aquarium HEATER 25W UL.Very small and easy to adjust; plus it can be placed completely underwaterin any position: vertical, horizontal, or on an angle. >•••••> Hagen Elite Underwater Mini FILTER for up to 3 gallon tank. >•••••> Hagen Elite Mini Internal FOAM 5 PACK replacement sponges. This is an excellent filter for my 5 gallon tank.It is well-made and powerful and could filter a 10 gallon tank.To reduce the water current to make it easy on my fish, I TOOK THE ADVICE FROM A USER REVIEWand bought a 5-pack of replacement sponge filters and used one sponge to completely cover the outflow valve.I also put a wee bit of the foam filter in the Venturi diffuser aerator.I set the aerator to low, which still provides ample aeration.I set the green filter power dial on the side of the filter to low to be just enough to create a good supply of aerating bubbles.I operated the aquarium for over a month without fish so that the water would be biologically perfect for them.Petco checks water samples for free. That little $9 dollar bio filter is just a wonder and so easy to maintain.Unplug the filter and remove it from the aquarium, then syphon off some aquarium water ( never use tap water) and squeeze the foam sponge in clean aquarium waterthree times or more until the final wash water is almost clear, then replace the sponge in the filter.I now have 5 Von Rio "Flame" Tetras doing very well in their new home. They do best when in a group of 5 or more, and in a low light environment, so I must have low-light live plants.I have a well-planted 5 gallon corner-type aquarium with a lid just for these 5 beautiful and hardy little orange fish.To provide shelter, there are lots of live Java ferns and wisteria plants at each end, plus the hydrocotyle silk plant to hide the filter and heater, and the plastic floatingduckweed to provide shelter from above.I purchased the silk hydrocotyle and plastic duckweed, because these live plants would perish in low light.Fish, like all living creatures, need shelter from real or perceived threats.Stress is the cause of most of life's mental and physical illnesses. For many years, I have purchased almost every type of product from Amazon and never had a problem.Products are as advertised, or better, and Super Saver Shipping is fast and dependable.I recommended all of the above products to my friends.I tell everyone to save money and buy through Amazon ( including the aquatics people at Petco ).//

Way too strong for a beta!
Filter says it’s for up to 3 gallons. I planned to use it for my 2.5 gallon tank with a beta fish, but it was waaay too strong! Even with plants and decorations in front of it, the flow still pushed the poor fish to the other side of the tank. I had to tape half the flow hole so that it wasn’t as strong AND put a plant in front of it for it to be okay for the beta. Only used it til I found a “weaker” flow filter.Nonetheless was still a good filter! Just too strong!

Great with some modifications
Four stars because it had to be modified to operate properly in a 1.5 gallon tank.Since the output is way too strong (even with the lowest setting) for a 1.5 gallon tank housing a betta, I cut up a sponge from a different filter and stuffed it in the output nozzle on the end that connects to the filter body. The filter sponge that is included has a hole in the middle. I stuffed it with activated carbon and covered it up with a piece of sponge from a different filter. The air tubing was too long for my application, so I had to cut it in half. One minor quirk is that, if there is any water in the air tubing, no water will come out of the output nozzle. So make sure that no water gets in the tube during installation and make sure to open up the air tubing valve, otherwise you will have no water output.

Forget those expensive fancy filters
I have two of these pumps now. The first one is used to move water in a 5.5 G tank in which I have two Amazon Sword plants. There are also 11 Neon Tetra and 8 Rasbora Hats. It works very well and I have very little algae in there. I only need to wipe the glass every few months. Encouraged by the results, I bought a second one and use that to move water in a 29 G, in which I have several very large Anubias plants (they occupy at least half of the tank) and some Javafern, and 60 Neon Tetras and a couple bristlenose pleco. To make the pump most powerful, I removed the foam inside. This way it creates a slow current across the tank. This setup is even more successful: I have very little algae and only wipe the tank every few months (matter of fact I don't even remember when did I do that last time). In both tanks the plants are the bio-filter. I don't have any other filters in the tanks. As people know, water movement is essential for healthy plants. To achieve this, I aim the water outlet of the pump at the water surface so that it agitates the surface and allows sufficient gas exchange between the air and the water. I don't use the included air bubble tube at all as I think it looks silly with the bubbles in the tank plus it's noisy. Combine this with a very large plant biomass (preferably low light plants), you don't need any other filters. When people use fancy filters that physically, chemically, and biologically filters the water, I only need to use this 10 dollar filter, and my tank looks as clean as theirs, if not cleaner. Plus it's low maintenance, since there's no filters to change, because my plants are the filter. Now the filter itself: it's quiet but not silent. Depending on how noisy the environment is, you may or may not hear it running. I have no complaints so far.
