The media could not be loaded. Love this book! Great for a present for any hobbyist or carpenter

very informative
I liked the book but I wish it had images to go along with all the instructions. I do not regret buying the book, no images means is going to take a little longer to finish the projects.

Not good for in depth knowledge
This book has some good general information but none on specific Japanese joints. The joints that are mentioned could be considered western or Japanese joints.

Excellent!
Great guide for a woodworker that's new to Japanese styles. My husband absolutely loved this book!

good content yet not closely relevant to the title 'japanese woodworking'
the title is Japanese woodworking so I assumed it will dive deep in japanese specified techniques, traditions and products. the part of tools are close enough yet the flaw is that too few pictures provided for each specific tool. the main part, joinery, is completely just a beginner guide and nothing emphasized about japanese joinery. well, a few joineries are indeed Japanese style, again, no corresponding pictures. all pictures included in this part are very general joinery pictures.the sample projects are interesting for beginners. i believe it's more appropriate to call this book 'woodworking for beginners' even though it does give a hint of japanese style here and there.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
Very little helpful information. Very generic pablum. Author seems more concerned about using Japanese terminology and words than imparting any useful information. Poor grammar. Projects at the end look decent, but poorly written instructions would make actual construction very difficult --- if not impossible. I guess that this is just proof that you can get almost anything published these days...

Fascinating tips and techniques
So glad to be able to learn about this form of cultural and ancient woodworking . Very educational form of carpentry. I loved how the emphasis was placed on the joints as well as other unique practices using wood instead of concrete and brick. Very insightful!

Very few illustrations.
This was a good introduction to Japanese woodworking techniques. This book has many craft projects; however, the directions for these projects are too long, and I would have liked reading them more if there had been more illustrations to guide you through. Overall, It gives me a comprehensive understanding of the basic tools needed in this profession, the types of woods used to construct various types of furniture, and what distinguishes Japanese joinery from others. Japanese joinery is distinguished by the fact that every joint is kept together by compression rather than glue. This is not a decent investment for someone searching for a high-quality joinery book.

Not as many pictures as I hoped
It’s a decent addition to a reference library but not enough substance and definitely not enough pictures to really help me.

Information
This book gives the history of Japanese history in woodworking ( interesting? ) but next to nothing on the techniques of making joints. Etc etc. I opted to return the book. Amazon didn’t want the book back but they did refund me the full cost of the book

Not very useful
Techniques are not Japanese woodwork

Point fort et faible
Bien expliquer, mais pas fort pour les photos noir et blanc! On dirait un livre des années '70.
