Down in the Valley: Paper-Pieced Houses and Buildings

I enjoy the designs in this book a lot. These are some of the most original houses and cottages I have seen . I do, however, have one serious beef with this book. The patterns that require different sections to be joined are presented as one piece only. That means you have to make several copies of the whole unit to get the various pieces to put together. This may be a bit confusing to understand in print so I'll explain further . If you've read "Quilts with Style" magazine, you'll notice that the quilts/wallhangings have individual piece patterns for you to copy and begin piecing. This book has a format much different than that.I teach paper piecing and I know that it would be very confusing for non advanced piecers to know how to replicate the pieces. I believe "That Patchwork Place" was just trying to save more money on printing this book. They sacrificed ease of use to have less pages.If the patterns had been presented appropriately, I would have given it 5 stars.

I just received this book and I love it! The paper pieced patterns consist of primitive and folk art designs. The book is very well put together and the patterns are beautiful. This is going to be my favorite paper piecing book and I plan on using it for several projects. I highly recommend it.

This book arrived promptly and in great condition. I had looked elsewhere for this book was lucky enough to find it here at a better price. Several of my friends have also ordered this book for a project our group is working on.

This is the book if you like doing house quilts. Some very cute projects.

I bought this to give me a little more variety in buildings rather than just the schoolhouse block as I want a house block for a specific reason.

This is the first time I have tried piece quilting , the colours of the materials used in the book were very dreary and dull and didn't inspire me.the but instructions very clear and easy to follow. I throughly enjoyed making the houses and trees, and it uses up odd scraps of material. A quick and easy small project to do. I really enjoyed it.

For lovers of paper piecing this book is excellent. Lots of lovely ideas for villages or just streets or single houses.
