Avon Loose Powder Mineral Foundation - Ivory

Wow. If they could sort the shades out this could be the product of the year! Unfortunate, they haven’t. I’ve bought 3 shades and non of them are anything like the description, but...Ok, a little background info’, I suffer from cystic acne and have struggled for years (I’m 41) to find a good coverage, dewy foundation. Liquids give me breakouts, which can take months to heal. Before I found this, I used Kanebo (only available in Harrods) and Bare Minerals. I have been through most drug store foundations through to dermatologist recommend. This is my now ‘go to’ foundation! I’m not only saving lots of money, but saving me weeks/months of embarrassing blemishes!This foundation gives a good, medium, even coverage with one dusting, however unlike other brands, this can be layered (built up) and it doesn’t look or feel cakey or sit in creases. Two dusting sand you have full coverage!! I’d advise buying a ‘buffing’ brush to apply which they sell on their site. The more you buff, the more glow you get! It lasts all day (really!!) and makes you look absolutely radiant! I use a thick moisturiser and this foundation sits well on top without ‘sliding’ off throughout the day.I’d recommend this to everyone; dry skin, oily skin, problem skin and mature skin.If you want a natural look but with full, healthy/dewy coverage, this is for you.I only have two negative comments on this product... 1/ The powder doesn’t have a lid inside to stop the powder from coming out the holes, so when you open the outer screw lid, it can make a mess & if you’re not careful you’ll waste a lot! I cut a piece of sponge and placed it inside to stop the mess/waste. 2/ The colours seem to be completely wrong. “Nude” is an orange colour and I’ve heard a lot of complains about this particular shade (most negative reviews are due to this colour & I can understand why) I have three different shades - the first ‘nude’ shade being a mistake purchase - although realistically, we all need two shades - one for summer, one for winter - if possible, ask your Avon rep’ or a friend which shade they use & try before you buy. I’m not sure Avon do samples or have a colour chart? My Mum and I have completely different skin tones, yet we both use the same colour! I think this powder does adjust slightly to your natural colouring.Although the above is annoying, they are easily solved and when you find the right shade, you’ll be delighted! It’s worth the extra effort. I’d still give this product a 10/10.I have just ordered the ‘Mark’ concealer and will be reviewing it in the next few days. I know Avon would never think that Ivory, for lighter skinned people would be this colour which was delivered. It also looked like the powder in it had been put in from another package. Obviously not the colour or shade in the photos. What came actually looks like a bronzer, and is as dark as a bronzer, and shimmers like a blush/bronzer, not a foundation.

I am pasty, there's no denying it but even the lightest shade of this looks like I've applied fake tan badly. However, if you can find your shade, this is an immense alternative to Foundation/Concealer. Just don't get it on the carpet!

You do need to get the right colour . I’ve got medium skin tone and suits me perfectly. Good price as used to use bare minerals and Avon r just as good . I would recommend anyone with medium skin tone to buy I couldn’t ask for a better foundation

I really love this stuff, great to tone down redness and give a nice smooth face. I use a kabuki brush and then a concealer brush to dot over spots. It lasts well without sinking into lines and has a slight glow to it which wakes me up a bit
