At one time, Vacmaster was an excellent product. However, there are some issues with the Vacmasters made recently:(1) The machine has been designed to have the cord uncoil from the front of the machine rather than the back. I would think that this is an obvious design flaw; if I can see it, why didn't the designers? When the vacuum is pulled out into the room, the cord will unplug from the electrical outlet rather than rewind.The cord should have been designed to come out of the rear of the vacuum.(2) The suction is non-existent when the brush roller is place on the hose. I had to add a different attachment which is only an inch in width, in order to pull up dirt, dust, etc. from the floors and carpets. This takes a great deal of time, strength and effort.(3) The hose is a very stiff, inflexible plastic. It has to be used with great care. If it accidentally comes up into the air, with the metal hose attachment, it has the capability to break glass or dent furniture or appliances (it put a small dent into my brand new stainless steel refrigerator). It must be moved carefully and cautiously at all times.(4) The vacuum is cumbersome to empty.

The suction is great. It is quiet and it rolls easily without tipping over. There is a quick release if something gets stuck in the hose. The dust bag is good quality and easy to remove. The retracting cord is a hand crank, which means it won't break! I am very happy with its' performance!

Bought this to replace my floormaster vac which is no longer available. The floor master was a great vac that I thought I could never find anything as good for around the house. I was wrong. This vac is a great upgrade to my surprise. It is just plain old all around better vac. Very impressed .

This vacuum was shipped very slowly. Then it arrived missing the control button on the hose. The hose cannot work properly with a big hole where the control button should be. The replacement, the I waited another week for, was also incomplete in this way. If I was mistaken (twice) there was nothing in the instructions that explained I would need to construct this control button and such a part was not included at all.I wanted this for the long cord. Skip this vacuum.
