Short, dusty, not fresh
I run a rodent rescue and have pet guinea pigs and a rabbit, as well. Over the past 3 years of hay use for my own animals and dozens of guinea pigs and rabbits, I've used a LOT of hay. Recently, I bought 6 different brands of orchard hay to do a comparison. When shopping for hay I look at the following criteria:freshnesslength of piecesdust contentdo the animals actually eat itThis one was the least fresh (indicated by how green it is), and had the shortest pieces and most dust. It was not as soft as the other brands, and I would imagine not as tasty for the animals.Of the 6 I tried, I would rate them on a scale of 1 to 5 in the following order from best to worst:Small Pet Select (5)Viking Farmer (5)Oxbow (3)PetSmart Market Medley (3)Kaytee (2)Vitakraft (1)

May cause addiction
Tried this on a whim and now my rabbits are addicted and won’t eat any other hay. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Luckily it’s a decent value. My spoiled little hoppers just love this stuff. They come greet me at the door to their hutch and stand on their little hind legs, noses twitching, sniffing the sweet scent of this stuff and then nearly crawl up my arm while I try to fill their hay feeder. It’s cute, but annoying. So buy at your own risk. You may create little cotton-tailed monsters.

Awesome Stemmed Hay ( Great Price )
This ……..was AWESOME . I use this for my hamsters cage , even though hamsters aren't Herbivores , They're Omnivores , I still use orchard grass hay , because they are one of the most Softest hay I know , and It won't poke their Cheek Pouch . Or hurt them , and things like that . Some hamsters like to nibble on it , and spit it out , but I Temporarily like to use this hay to stabilize My hamsters burrows . Since the bare minimum or a hamster cage Is 450 - 550 sq. In. Of floorspace , and the minimum for bedding , Is : at least 7 Inches or more . Since I give my hamster 16 Inches of bedding to use , they are burrowers , so in the wild , they will be burrowing to 8 feet + . they are born burrowing . and since they are burrowers , they make their own tunnels and stuff like that . and sometimes when hamsters make their tunnel creation , The bedding will fall back on the way , ( hamsters way down ) and it kind of just ruins the whole entire creation / tunnel of theirs. so the hay helps with burrowing Stability . to help keep it nice and stable so that bedding wont fall back down . It also smells AMAZING and super sweet . that will attract my hamster . since they have great sense of smell :) you only need a handful To sprinkle around the cage . and you can layer it if you'd like . Also , this product is huge when it comes . ( bigger than you will expect it to be when it arrives at your house ) and , The price is verrrrry cheap , for a large bag . Great hay ! thanks !

Guinea pig loves this
We tried Timothy Hay but we are all allergic to it, not only us humans but the guiena pig too. After everyone breaking out in a rash that took 6 weeks to clear up, we were told to try Orchard Grass Hay. We got some at the pet store for $8 a bag which is way too much to pay for hay and above our budget. I saw this on Amazon for half that price and decided to try it. The day I gave the Guinea Pig some she went crazy for it. It smells like fresh cut hay so is a very pleasing smell. None of us have any allergies to it. I had a little Timothy Hay left and wanting to use it up put it in the Guinea pigs dish and she wouldn't touch it until I traded it out for this Orchard Grass Hay. After getting scolded by her for trying to give her the old hay back, I threw the rest of it out and kept this hay. This is all we feed her now (which reminds me its time to order more) I can get 2 bags on Amazon for the price of 1 at the pet store so please keep the price the same on this! Thanks!
