Great education
This is a book that all parents should have the way the world is changing. Gives a really good balance to life and is full of thoughtful expressions. Definitely one to go through with your child too. Well written and easy to understand I think this throws a light on so many things. Great value

Nice idea but maybe missed the mark a bit!
This book is really thoughtfully set out with a variety of bloggers sharing their thoughts and ideas about how to bring up your children in todays eco climate. I’d say it’s more for parents with very small children who want them to be ingrained into an environmentally conscious mindset from the start. There are some great ideas but it did feel very “middle class” with its tips and guides-many families are struggling with the rising costs of raising a family and I’m sure that putting food on the table is more important to them then spending more to buy organic. I think going back to basics and shopping locally and seasonally was one of the better ideas instead, walking to the shops etc. Parents try their best with the time and money they have and I sometimes felt this wasn’t addressed in a positive and practical way. And that’s why I liked the fact that a variety of authors contributed to this book so the different viewpoints came across. An interesting read but maybe nothing new for those already adapting their lives to bring up their family in these worrying times.

Some good points
This is a well written book for parents of mainly pre school age children. And maybe up to say 8 years. Giving tips and ideas of how to encourage their children to grow well into a good global and local citizen. There are sections in playing well, caring for others and way more. Much of the material can be found elsewhere and not much new is here. However it’s all in one place and so well written.

Timely - but not sure how much new info this has to offer
While I like the concept and idea of such a book, I'm not entirely sure that it really sheds new light on the subjects it discusses. As these topics are forever in the news these days, I didn't really come away with anything new from reading this, or stumble across a means/method that I could use in my own family life that I'm not already doing now. However, having said that, I think this book would appeal greatly as a book for parents-to-be and those first time parents of very young children. By accessing this as a parent-guide, this would be more informative and helpful and a great companion to those sleep, behaviour, and feeding guides, etc, that so many of us tend to buy when first starting out as a parent! As a mother of four (with kids from secondary school to uni age) I personally didn't feel I was able to take much from this book, having been exposed to so much of this already as a parent myself. But I do think if the target audience was geared towards those about to start on the parenting path, then this would be a valuable resource.

Eco life for the rich
Another iteration of how to be eco. It’s not as though I haven’t tried (and being self aware, failed) to follow these precepts. But honestly ‘buy organic food’ and ‘buy slightly more expensive food in non plastic packaging’ is so out of tune with rising costs of energy and other living requirements, it’s a bit beyond belief. At some points the kids will get bored of their wooden toys and secondhand jigsaw puzzles and demand a Playstation, like their mates. This book can be summed up by the advice to enjoy nature and look up flowers on a smartphone app. I’m sure child cobalt miners will cheer about that one. Everything you do makes a mess. Just enjoy life in moderation.

A good alternative for purposeless online browsing
This is not a revolutionary read and it basically summarises what you already know. But it is much more pleasant and useful of a read than most of the glamour gossip and celeb mishaps. It discusses points like speaking out, raising awareness and is basically a read for thought and contemplation. You might not take many points from this book to implement in your household. But it helps one contemplate on what are the right things for their children and similar life matters. Basically, nothing too much but might work in mysterious ways :)

How to Raise a 'Rich' Global Citizen
I think this book is written for a specific class of people, those who are affluent and able to spend more to live a more environmentally-ethical life. There are some valuable points which are not new or innovative, a lovely summary, but I always find the buzz about global citizenship very problematic and superficial, as it doesn't account for the realities endured by people around the world.
