Affordable, Sturdy, and easy to assemble.
I bought these chairs to go with a table I bought online and also to coordinate with the general stylings of my 1920s home. The chairs are stable, don't wobble, and look nice. There's a little unevenness of stain color along some of the edges, but that's really the only complaint. The chairs seem absolutely rock solid, and my husband had them put together in no time. He said he didn't have to drill any extra holes or anything like that as some reviewers have stated. Nothing came damaged. I also bought 2 of the armless variety, and they are great, also. I'm really pleased with these. For anyone wondering, the color is slightly orange and fairly light. They'll probably work with most things that have warm tones.

Nice chairs, up to one issue
I am rating these at 4-stars due to one issue, which I will get to.Before I do I would like to first say that these chairs are a pretty good value generally speaking. They are solid, easy to put together, and look good. The style is classic and the finish is even. For the price it is hard to beat these. In addition, I have spent two different days sitting in them for more than 10 hours in comfort with no additional padding or modifications. The space between the arm rests is a touch narrow, but not so much as to be really worthy of note unless you are larger than about 275 lbs. None of us are, so minor at best.However... There is a major issue when you have a chair for less than 72 hours and 3&1/2 inches of the face of the leg sloughs off and a quarter inch of the underside is stained on all but the top where is broke. Yep, there was a major flaw in the wood and moving the chair reveled it.I can not speak to the seller on this as I never contacted them. Being a woodworker I just did a repair. While not as perfect as a chair that never had an issue it is still good.Do your self a favor when you get these chairs and put sliders on the bottom. This will keep the edges from snagging and a similar problem from occurring for you.

The chairs are very nice. The chairs are hardwood
The chairs are very nice. The chairs are hardwood, but not Oak, they are stained oak and the color in the pictures is true to life. The assembly is easy enough with a power screw driver. Any skilled craftsman would have no problem assembling the chairs, not complicated. The hardwood is very durable and heavy, the wood is not very porous which makes cleaning a snap. I put felt on the bottom of the chair legs which makes them easy to slide, but the weight of the chairs makes moving them a deliberate intention. One of the spars was broken on arrival and the Coaster company was very easy to work with. I emailed them a description of the damage, they sent me an inventory list with numbers and I choose the spar that was broken and it was delivered right away without hassle. I would definitely buy from them again. I do realize that these chairs are made with hardwood from the Asian forests and I do hope they are replanting and making their production sustainable.

Great Value
I bought two arm chairs and 4 side chairs and I am posting this review to both.M first concern with the pictures was that the side and end chairs appear to be different in color based on the pictures on Amazon, but they match perfectly. The chairs are well made, comfortable and easy to assemble. I think that if I went to a furniture store and found them assembled, I would have paid $200 top $250 per chair. On Amazon, they were a little over $50 per chair. What a deal.I had one minor problem with one chair. Tightening the attaching bolt split one of the boards (no I did not over torque it – I am a mechanical engineer). I ended up reinforcing the split area by cutting a little angled piece of oak and gluing and screwing it in the underside below the seat as you se on many chairs. This was a lot less trouble than returning the chair would have been.

Good looking and sturdy. Moderate assembly time.
These chairs are very handsome and well built, assuming you assemble them properly. Like most furniture assemblies, putting the first one together takes some figuring. The second assembly is easier—no directions needed. Most of the fastenings are bolts tightened with a provided "L" hex wrench. The seat is fastened using four Phillips screws. They need a bit of strength to insert into the seat bottom because there are no pre-set holes. You will need to push down hard on the screwdriver as well as turn it with some force once the screw tip enters the seat. The seat, by the way, has a very subtle indentation to accommodate your bottom. It's almost imperceptible and could probably be more pronounced, but it's okay. All in all, these are sturdy chairs that add nice ambiance to my large oak "library" desk, now used as a dining table and work surface. As you are apt to agree the stain is a pleasant hue, but the wood is not actual oak. As noted on the shipping box, these were built in Malaysia, so the wood is probably a regional hardwood.

Better than I expected
Would have given 5 stars except for packaging. Ordered 3 sets of 2. All 3 boxes were of a soft cardboard and arrived with holes. The bag of assembly screws/bolts/etc. in two boxes had opened and some clips in one box were missing, probably out of the holes in the box. One of the seats was broken in half and I have asked for a replacement. That said, the chairs are an outstanding value - solid and well designed. Assembly was easy but a bit tedious. Pilot holes were not drilled in the seats. No big deal if you have a power drill and bits. Chair parts are will mortised, well finished, and stain color is neutral enough to go with many other colors you may have. After research, I was expecting to have to pay at least $150 per chair. These chairs are truly an exceptional value.

Great looking, sturdy chairs
These look like great chairs and would go with almost any "traditional" decor. They went together fairly easily once I realized that the side rails aren't made differently for left and right. Some had a screw hole that went all the way through, others didn't, so it was an aesthetic decision which side to put them on. The chairs definitely need glides or pads of some kind if they're going on hardwood or linoleum. They would also be very loud on tile. Price was great. The arm chairs arrived whole, no split seats as in other reviews. The arm chairs were also packaged with an extra layer of foam around the inside of the entire carton.
