Q: Does the spray discolor metal or wood?

I sprayed it in my outdoor wood steps and from what I can see, no change in color.

Q: Can it be used on gutters?

Yes, you can use it on gutters. We would recommend rinsing them off once the weather warms up.

Q: Is this really safe for composite decking? I see on the ingredients that is has sodium chloride which is more corrosive than magnesium or calcium.

The bottom line is, anything that melts snow has the ability to corrode. The key is to wash off the deck after cleaning off the snow when possible, and power wash the deck once a month. Power washers are now affordable and electric (some less than $150) and easy to use. Use a stiff push broom or carefully use a plastic snow shovel (never steel) to remove the snow. Pellets are slow release and have issues like pitting and when you walk on them scratching or grinding into the composite decking, so liquids are definitely easier on the finish.
