A Regal Man: The Life & Lessons of Vasu Shroff

The Regal Man is biography of Vasu Shroff, Chairman of the Regal Group of Companies. Starting from a single shop, he built an empire which is today a household name in UAE. Honestly, I had not even heard about Vasu Shroff but after reading the book it feels like he's an old acquaintance of mine. And I must declare that his story is one of the most iconic and inspiring I've come across till date. He felt in bad company in childhood, moved to a new place and rose to academic excellence (it was one of the 2 turning points of his life). In his 20s he moved to Dubai (it was the second turning point). Both he and Dubai was not the same as we see today. He was nobody and Dubai was a land without running water, electricity or many roads, both of them evolved with time.But his journey was no cakewalk. He experienced a lot of challenges, setbacks, failures. He had to face heartbreaking & soul shattering losses. His daughter died few weeks ago after her marriage. He felt like he died right away with his daughter. Vasu went into a decade long depression. But he fought it, defeated it for his family. He became 'Dada'. He was told that people are misusing his generosity but he didn't care, all he wanted to do was the art of giving and he did in wholeheartedly.I've read some biographies before but this one is something different. It's divided into two parts. The first one tells us the story of Vasu Shroff and the second one is a conversation with him in which he speaks a lot of words of wisdom. I just loved the way the book is written. Thanks to the author for writing in FPP so that we could go on Vasu's journey through his own eyes. Every chapter is followed by Wisdom in Hindsight where the 'gist' quotes/thoughts of chapter are shared. Plus every chapter ending also gives us homework exercise to do so it feels like book is written for us too. Reading it was such a unique and brilliant experience.

I really liked how the biography was presented. The First Person Point of View is something which I loved so much.🏴 Turn the Tables had already inspired me and now 'The Regal Man' has filled me with the motivation that I could have. The ups and downs, highs and lows are all part of life . To be on the pathway of motivation and success is all that matters.🏴The Cover is simplistic yet royal at looks. It was an overwhelming feeling to see the Foreword.
