Demons 2 Dual Format 4k Ultra-HD+BD [Blu-ray]

Demons 2 UHD & Blu-ray (Arrow 2021)Fantastic dual format release from Arrow.Product review here, not a movie review but hopefully helpful.This has a thick reversible slip cover that opens at the bottom so no dust is ever getting in there, one side has new artwork or turn it over for the original artwork.The discs are housed in a black Blu-ray case with a reversible inlay and a booklet. The 15 rating and barcode are stickers on top of the shrink wrap.I’m not ready for 4K UHD yet but the Blu-ray version looks amazing.This is the full length film at 1:31:02 for English & 1:30:59 for Italian. An earlier Arrow version I purchased were a couple of minutes short. This full length restoration is worth the upgrade. There are just a couple of grainy moments and a couple of seconds of shaky screen, but, as most fans would know this is due to the original print being damaged, it’s so brief just blink and you’ll miss it anyway. I’d say it’s even better than the 2014 Synapse release which was my favourite. Vibrant picture in both colours & detail, crisp clear audio making Simon Boswells score really stand out without losing the dialogue in the mix.Audio is in 5.1 & 2.0. English or Italian. Optional subtitles.Bonuses are 2 trailers, a new visual essay, a couple of older features with Sergio Stivaletti and Luigi Cossi and 2 film commentaries - both are very enjoyable and offer lots of background information on Demons/Demoni 2 and Italian horror. The newest of the two has loads of information, the narrator keeps saying going backwards and forwards on topics not focusing on what’s on the screen but bear with him as it’s really a worthwhile and informative listen.There is a fancier packaged 2021 Arrow version only released a few months ago with both films, poster (new artwork only) a hardback book and a golden Metropol ticket but you only get one type of disc. This release offers the film on UHD and standard Blu-ray Discs, If like me you are not ready for UHD discs then you can watch on Blu-ray for now and won’t have to upgrade again later on.The 20 page booklet has cast and restoration information and some movie stills although they are printed very dark.Perfect companion to the first film Demons/Demoni. It’s not as gory or violent with a 15 rating, and dose not directly follow the original story but it’s a great demonic ride and the only official sequel, a couple of original cast members can be seen in different roles (clue: smash everything!).For further viewing - many films were labeled as Demons, The Church/La Chiesa 1989 was meant to be the 3rd film but was changed to be a stand alone film and is very recommended and of course the first superior film.As with most Arrow releases you get a flyer/postcard for another movie in the case (Mine was Battle Royale).The discs have new artwork with the UHD or Blu-ray logos to the left so you know which one to play.The new reversible style slip cover is fantastic, I hope more films are packaged like this, the new artwork is stunning but for me it has to be the original, this cover offers both to suit both fans and newcomers, it’s the visual/audio quality of the film that’s most important, and it’s fantastic.

Service all good and fast and for once amazon did not overboard with packing for once.

The first Demons is a splatter classic, and a prime example of Italian horror, the second Demons is in almost every way a pale imitation of what came before. That's not to say it's a bad movie, though. It's still a fun experience. Just not AS fun as Demons 1.The Gore's more subdued due to the new age rating, so it's overall a much tamer production than the first.I'd have given this a 3.5 instead, but Amazon doesn't allow ratings like that.
