Youth size is not the same as an adult size. You have to pick if you need right or left size but both are not coming together. I will recommend you to ask a sport expert or try the different sizes at the sport store. My brother is 9 years old and he is using 11.5 youth size. Probably this size is going to be too small for your son.

This is a on going procedure but make it fun for them. My granddaughter throws a tennis ball on the roof and works to catch it on the fly, on one bounce etc.
