Great item that meets, if not exceeds, my expectations. Easy to use, and it works. The stainless steel is a huge plus. Prior to receiving this I would have to oil my battery/electric side-burn trimmer occasional for the job, as the blades tend to built up rust and freeze when turned on. This use to be a Sunday evening chore for me, but now I just check daily, and if need be I do a quick job in about 20-30 seconds. I like the fact that you can dis-assemble the entire unit for a thorough cleaning if you wish. Although not necessary, I like the leather case. The unit is tiny, but once again it works. It takes up essentially no room when packing for a trip. I've only used this for a couple of weeks, but if it keeps up the current performance, it gets an A+ in my book.

Works great - until...
Overall, I love this product. I've owned at least two other electric trimmers (Panasonic and Wahl) and have been pleased with them for the most part. The main drawback is that they are not very travel friendly due to their size and battery needs. The Groom Mate is MUCH smaller and doesn't require batteries. It is made like a tank. I don't foresee ever having a problem with it, unless the blades dull over time. It does take a little getting used to (as other reviewers have mentioned). First, it makes no noise, so you can't tell if you're actually cutting anything. Insert and turn the handle is simple enough, but you really have no idea what you've trimmed until you take it out and look in the mirror. Next, I guarantee at some point, you'll experience the dreaded "caught but not cut" hair incident and it will bring tears to your eyes. I suppose the best way to avoid this is to make sure you turn the handle briskly and make sure you complete the turn before removing the trimmer from your nose. I'm not sure what makes the engine backfire (so to speak), but it hurts like hell when it happens. Considered yourself warned. I will continue to use it, because it does work well, it does allow you to reach areas that the electric trimmers don't, and I'm still getting the hang of it. It's defiantly worth the money.

Quality Product
I have tough hairs, so electric groomers generally pull the hairs and are very painful. This cuts and almost never pulls even my tough hairs. It is quality built and does the job. It doesn't however cut the hair really close to the skin, so if you are looking for a really close cut, hair groomers like this (or any of this design, electric or not), this isn't it. But it does the job of grooming well, it is easy to use (although you have to use both hands), will last probably forever, and is tiny and easy to travel with, carry, or store.Overall, a quick and safer alternative to little scissors, and it doesn't pull like electric ones (almost never), but of course can't cut as close to the skin as scissors/razors can. So, good for quick daily grooming of nose or ear hair.

Good for nose hair but not for ears
I just gifted this product to my husband and I've to admit that it takes a while to adjust to its use (especially when you have to use both hands to operate this). I feel its good for nose hair trimming but caused a lot of hair pulling and discomfort when my husband tried to trim ear hair. Although the product seems small and sturdy, I feel it is little overpriced. You may have search for more options if you plan on using it just as an ear hair trimmer.

Excellent trimmer, and the updated pouch is great
I purchased the trimmer/pouch/brush package a month or so ago, and immediately loved it. It's very well-built, doesn't pull or snag, and cuts clean every time. I appreciate that it's made in the USA, and it's a great device. The brush is useful for getting down between the blades, though you could probably get away with rinsing and drying it.I wasn't a fan of the included pouch, and said so in my seller feedback. I thought it was cheap-looking and flimsy, and the brush didn't fit well inside. Lo and behold, a few days after I submitted my feedback, a package from Groom Mate arrived, with the new pouch, a brush that fits through a slot in the front, a promo pen, and a business card from the president of the company. The new pouch is great, and I understand it's shipping with the instrument now. Groom Mate makes a fine product, and backs it up with good customer service, even after the sale. Support a US business, and get a great personal care tool in the process.

Garbage product.
Should have listened to the other reviews. This product is garbage. It usually doesn't catch hair at all. I am talking 0.5 cm hair wouldn't be caught by this thing. When it does catch hair, it doesn't cut and just pulls it which hurts like hell. You constantly have to spin it to amke it work, which makes it hard to get deep inside, so all your inside hairs stay intact and only the ones in the rims get cut.Don't buy.

But you must use it differently
Well made, works great. But, I understand why some people complain it snags hair. It's easy, but you have to develop a slightly different technique to avoid the hair pulls. With a battery powered clipper, you just turn it on and move it around. That is nice. With this beautiful little machine, however,- first, position it,- then turn, turn, turn,- then stop turning,- then move it to a new position.Repeat until your nose is nice and clean. So, no batteries, take it anywhere, it will last forever.

Works like a charm. Just make sure that you insert and remove the trimmer while twirling the trimmer at high speed to prevent tearing out hairs. This thing is made of solid metal and the blades cut with scissor action. there are no exposed sharp edges. It is well made and not a piece of junk like the battery powered Panasonic POS that I bought a few years back. While this works superbly for nose hair solo, I had a great deal of difficulty using it unassisted for ear hair. It was hard to find the correct angle by myself. I find it easier to have my wife trim my ear hair. Still a great little tool. After use just a quick twirl in alcohol and let it air dry before putting it away.
