Joe Bonamassa: Live At The Greek Theatre [Blu-ray]

And, if you're a fan of Joe B, it's way good. And, if you are somehow new to Joe, it's one great intro. The musicians are world-class and highly regarded in their own right. The backup singers are great. It is also great to see get to see Michael Rourke on bass another time (RIP). Excellent camera work and audio/video quality.A must-have for Joe Bonamassa fans.

Each time I think this is his best performance ever he manages to outdo himself. For me it started with the London show where he showcased his own music for the most part. An incredible evening. Then came Red Rocks where he lent his touch to the legendary music of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. I figured these two performances were as good as it was gonna get, but no! The Three Kings tour where he gave us the music of Freddy King, Albert King (my all time favorite), and one of his personal mentors, B.B.King just blew me away. Not only was it backed up with the best ensemble of musicians he has ever put together, but he added the incredible trio of background singers from Australia that just made this DVD one of the best purchases I have ever made. For blues fans this man is truly a blessing and his mission to "Keep the Blues Alive" just keeps on truckin", aa we used to say back in the 60's & 70's. I was somewhat of a late comer to Joe's music, but am so grateful I found it. If you are truly a blues fan this is a "must buy!" I have the DVD's and the CD's for the mentioned performances in this review so I can enjoy them anywhere.....

My wife and I have been following Joe's career for more than 12 years. It always amazes us, just when we start to think; O.K. how much more can Joe do before it becomes old hat? He comes up with a performance that once again places you in awe! This release does exactly that. His ability to write and cover songs in such a way, it just blows you away. The horn section, his choice of back-up vocalists, in this case from Australia, the construction of the performance within itself is truly amazing. Joe has redefined Blues in his own way. Some critics are quick to point out that what Bonamassa is playing is not Blues and that may be true in some aspects. I argue that since Blues as well as Gospel is the origin of most Pop and Rock creations and Rock, Pop and Blues is what Joe performs, then Joe is a true Blues artist with the ability to incorporate all facets of music in to his harmonic persona.

Having been out of music listening for a while, Joe snuck on the scene without me noticing. He started showing up in my feeds so I decided to check him out. WOW! I was blown away by his performance. The recording is awesome, both audio and video. This wont be the last Bonamassa video I will buy either.

Always stellar music from Joe. I give the music a 5, but as a video I give it a 4. The video of Joe at an early age and the bonus video of an interview with Joe's parents are very good, but especially with two big screens at the Greek concert, there should have been videos of each King. Also, we've seen the BB and father stuff in previous videos, but it's always great to see more of. Love Joe's playing and hard edged expressions and the band is great, but for video I need more background footage especially for a tribute concert recorded today. I'll have to watch the Muddy show again, I thought there was some background footage during the concert. If not, the going to the Crossroads homage part was fulfilling. BB got the big nod in this video, but Albert and Freddie needed footage. Audio is a tad muddled, but I am not picking on the audio. Video is good, but would be much better with footage of the Kings.

I had not heard of Joe Bonamassa until recently, and this video concert Blu-Ray set was my introduction to his music. Wow! I wish I had known about him earlier. I am struck by just how wonderful the performances are that this artist and his band deliver on this concert video - the audience is treated to quite an amazing experience. In short, this concert video is absolutely fantastic and as a Blu-Ray set it is truly a terrific value. The unusually high quality of this concert video product and the terrific value pricing lead me to conclude that this artist must love his fans nearly as much as he loves the music he plays. Believe me, it is very rare for any musical artist to provide such high quality and value in a video product. I look forward to attending many of this artist's future live concerts.

Hard to believe someone as good as Joe can get even better, but he does. Live at the Greek is awesome! Joe, and his back-up singers and band are unbelievably talented. He is by far the best guitarist I have ever seen or heard, and I thought no one could top Eric Clapton. His singing is awesome too! I would not call him the typical Blues singer. He does the full gamete and he does it all so well! We have seen Joe 3 times in concert and he's even better in person. What a performer! Love, love, love him! The most successful, yet underrated, talented, singer and guitarist to date to ever preform. If you have not heard him you are really missing out! This is an awesome CD! We love the Blue Rays too! It's almost as good as being in concert to watch them :)

I was 17 when "Smoking Joe" was born. When he gets 40, I will be 57. I can't complain about that. It is a privilege to be alive at the same period of history, on the same planet, with Joe Bonamassa. This concert is simply amazing. A wonderful tribute to the three Kings of the Blues. Wait a minute; no JB hits this time? He doesn't need them. Save them for another great opportunity. The repertoire here couldn't be better chosen. Fantastic job by whoever picked up all these songs to be played in front of a very lucky audience. The sound quality is what you could expect from Kevin Shirley producing and Bob Ludwing mastering: absolutely brilliant. All instruments and voices are here, in your living room. Favourite tracks? No way I can do that. The concert is fantastic as a whole! Buy this DVD/Blu-Ray as soon as possible. Thanks a lot, Joe!

Was originally going to do a quick disc check to make sure it plays okay, ended up watching the whole show. The recording quality is top notch, hi-fi grade stereo imaging and no shortage of finger bending solos.
