Q: Can this hold a rose bush forever ?

I don't know. If, as some theories suggest, the universe is cyclical, it would have to survive the un-making as well as the re-making of a new universe. But even just within this universe we live in, well ... again, I don't know. I could bequeath it with a proviso that it remain in use, but what if my heirs move, and can't keep an eye on it? What is someone buys the house and removes it? There's so many, many possibilities even within the short term of a century. For forever, I don't see a reasonable way to even begin to guess. I'm sorry. I couldn't resist humor. It's a wonderfully inviting question :) Prosaically, I suspect it will hold up well for at least 20 years.

Yes, the height can be shortened by not adding pieces

Q: Is this strong enough to support vining vegetables? Squash, gourds, cucumbers?

I believe so. I got 4 of them to grow beans, cucumbers and peas on. It may work for gourds that are lighter in individual weight but I would be selective on the types of squash.

Q: Will the steel get hot enough from the sun to burn the plants that would go on it? I live in Texas and it can get over 100 degrees easy.

I live in South Louisiana and I’ve never had an issue with this.
