Marvel 6 Inch Legends Series Mystic Rivals: Nico Minoru

Finally, something I can review that isn't just a straight redeco of something. This one is a heavy retool and also a new character entirely. I'm not a Marvel Legends collector so I'm not sure if it's completely a new mold or not but I would imagine they reused a few parts here and there.This was my first Marvel Legends purchase. This figure is just too beautiful to not own. As it turns out though, it's really good as well. I have a few figures done in this style so I do know a little about figures like this. The skirt and hair especially, are made out a really soft, but sturdy, plastic. This means that they don't hamper articulation as you would think they normally would. As such, the little bit of hair on the back of her head doesn't hinder her upward head articulation in any way. The legs aren't hindered by the skirt in any way either. Even if the skirt were to be a problem, it can move up and out of place on the torso to allow for more leg movement.She has a full range of articulation. Her head is on a ball joint and has good side to side pivot and proper rotation. Her neck is a forward and backwards disk style hinge. This allows her head to look upward and downward quite a bit. The two joints combined have a very large range of motion. Her diaphragm joint is also very good. She has great pivot and backwards motion. The forwards motion though is limited but her head moves so far forward and down that it doesn't really matter. Her shoulders are disk hinges and have full motion as she doesn't have shoulder pads or a weirdly molded shoulder socket. They move in and out and forward and back. The outward and upward movement goes higher than a "T" and more into the "Y" position. She has bicep rotation but only ninety degree elbows. Wrist rotation and in and out movement. She has ball jointed hips that move outwards to slightly more than a ninety degree side kick. She has thigh rotation, double jointed knees, ankle tilt and pivot and peg holes at the bottom of her feet. The paint work on mine is pretty damn good. All the lines are clean and she has paint in the knee joints. The paint on the face is fine so the eyes, eyebrows and lips don't look off. However, the purple on the bottom of the skirt is a little sloppy in parts but it's such a small line to try and paint and due to the way it's molded, it doesn't help matters any.She has three accessories; a wand, a purple translucent effect part for the wand and another left arm that is made of painted translucent purple plastic from the elbow down. The wand doesn't really fit well in the right hand due to the nature of the plastic used in the hand and the added weight of the effect part doesn't help anything. It actually makes the wand so heavy that some of the joints can't hold it all in place properly. Instead of using the effect part on the wand, I take it off and put it on the left arm. There's a small part inside the effect that can somewhat clip onto the left arm decently.I know that Nico isn't a very well known character at all but this toy is too good for anyone to pass up. Especially if you actually collect Marvel Legends. Since I don't, I have to now fight the urge to buy them all since I like this figure so much.

She has a unique look, she is built on a small body, and she has some interesting accessories.Nico's face sculpt is really well done. She is pretty, and has a little bit of a rounded face, that is pretty standard for how she looks in the comics. She has had a lot of different hair styles, most of which entail having an explosion of hair out the back of her head. I really like the style Hasbro went with, using a wild bun on top of her head, and a few stands falling to the sides of her face.Nico comes with The Staff of One. This is really well executed. It could have easily ended up as a hunk of plastic, but what they did was really nice. They created the staff with gold plastic, and then created the purple power that surrounds it with a completely different piece. Together they are fairly heavy, and tend to pull Nico off to that side.Nico also comes with a really special accessory. She comes with a second arm, known as her Witch Arm. In a battle, Nico lost her arm, and her life. The Staff of One brought her back to life and gave her a new arm. This new arm has a gauntlet made from part of the Staff of One. The new arm is a totally different cast than her first arm, including the gauntlet and a texture on her transparent purple hand and arm.

When I ordered this figure, I was really excited and couldn't wait for it to arrive. It arrived in mint condition [not to mention how fast the delivery was] and the figure was untouched and crisp. 10/10 would recommend.

The detail on this figure was surprisingly good. The articulation was very good also and I really liked the accessories that were included. The figure seems sturdy and feels good even with rough play. I would recommend it to friends.

The Runaways were one of the best "young heroes" series ever (IMO) and Nico was the standout character. Unsurprisingly, she's becoming better known in the Marvel universe, particularly as part of A-Force.This figure captures her personality and look excellently; there's no doubt that you're looking at "Sister Grimm" and the Staff of One. It's nice that we get two left arms: normal or "magic gauntlet" version. It would be even better if there was a way to lengthen the Staff of One to complete her pre-one-handed character, but that's nitpicking. Nico is the best option of the current Dr. Strange toyline.

Really nice figure and came pretty fast! Totally worth it!

I'm so disappointed that Marvel maimed yet another Asian female character! In the comics, she now has a robotic left arm now. I guess you can use her 'all magic-upped' clear arm to pretend it's her robot arm powered up!I wish they would have made her look a bit less Caucasian though!

I don't know anything about this character, but the figure is beautiful. Her face . . . oh my . . . I'm in love. She's short - just so you know.
