This repair kit is great and saved me $30+ in the cost of a new faucet. I was able to actually repair two of my four faucets since one was a "left threaded" and the other a "right threaded" system. If you have water leaking from the handle when connected to a hose, you need this kit! The repair took less than five minutes (after spending an hour figuring out which seals, washers, etc. to use). The back of the packet offers helpful information.

I normally will only buy OEM parts because I've found much too high of a failure ratio with danco parts.But with those frost free outdoor hose faucets, who knows what they are half the time?I figured this out looked like it had everything I'd need to fix my friends leaking bonnet and all the seals and washers on the inside.It's great that they include both normal and reverse threaded packing nuts.The one I replaced was reversed threads.The new nuts are pretty cheesy nylon or plastic, so you have to be careful not to overtighten it.I used waterproof grease on all the seals and the faucet works great with no more leaksI did have to replace the vacuum breaker the day before though, and the danco repair parts that I bought for that came with damaged threads and leaked worse than the one I replaced.That required some Teflon tape.Honestly, in many cases it's less expensive and less work to replace the entire valve with a new one than to replace all the seals, washers, o rings and vacuum breaker on an existing one. But this setup was only accessible by removing siding and cutting through the sheething.If your connection is accessible from inside the house I'd recommend replacing the entire valve.If not this kit should work for several different models.

This fixed my leaking faucet. I was surprised because I didn't really do that much. One thing to be aware of is that this kit covers 2 different designs of faucet. You have more parts than you need so make sure the right parts go to the right faucet. Read the directions carefully and it should be a quick job. I knocked a star off on value because, being a geezer, I thought it was a lot of money for a screw, 2 washers, and some rubber and plastic.

Purchased 2 of these kits 3 years apart, both have the same design flaw that causes leaks around the faucet handle of 500 series silcocks.The plastic 500 series packing nut (item D) has a big gap around the injection molding parting line (see pictures.) This gap does not allow the rubber o-ring (item E) to properly seat, which causes water to leak by. I was able to fix the issue by filing down the packing nut around the defective area to smooth out the gap. No more leaks!I plan to return the 2nd kit I purchased since both it and the first kit have the same design flaw.As an aside, I recommend using food grade silicon grease such as "Super Lube 92003" to lubricate the seals. This will promote a better seal. DO NOT use petroleum based lubricants as they will attack the rubber seals and cause them to fail.
