I will fully admit that this isn't the best game out there
I will fully admit that this isn't the best game out there. It has many limitations. Sometimes it is very easy, other times it is almost impossible to finish a level. You don't have checkpoints during levels, and in some levels you will complete the objectives only to be shot down while trying to return to base. You then have to completely restart the mission. Also many of the missions are repetitive. As long as you can acknowledge this WWII Flying Aces is quite fun. It is rewarding to finally beat a difficult level, as well as unlocking new planes that add to the game play. Once you have mastered the controls you will be able to complete most levels with minimal difficulty, and if you like a challenge there are opportunity's to play several different game modes including a fly and die in which you fight until you are shot down. I would not pay full price for a new version, but if it is on sale or if you can find a fairly cheap used game it is worth the purchase.

WWII Aces has a cheat that makes it fun.
WWII Aces has a cheat that makes the game playable and fun. That cheat is to hold down the slow motion button. You can play through any campaign challenge while holding down the slow motion button and the game does not mind or penalize you for it. In normal game speed the enemy aircraft is faster and more maneuverable than the player's aircraft. In slow motion the player's plane is faster and more maneuverable than the enemy aircraft and the enemy ground fire. Playing the campaign challenges in slow motion is a whole different game and really fun! You can not win the campaign challenges at normal speed because you are overwhelmed by an enemy that is faster and more maneuverable than you can possibly be which everybody agrees is what makes the game unplayable. But in slow motion once you learn how to fly the plane you are the master and the game is really fun.

Didn't meet high expectations
I really like the interface for this game. Like all Wii games, it's very intuitive and natural to use. The game action is more-or-less realistic, and there's a lot of content. The graphics won't win any prizes, but they're certainly adequate to the purpose. However...You can only play as Russian, German, or British. Which means no P51 Mustang, F-4U Corsair, or other great US planes. There's a choice of 1 fighter, fighter-bomber, and bomber for each nationality. So a grand total of 9 planes, 6 of which are inappropriate for any given mission. Also, the mission unlocking progression stymied me pretty early. One of the first missions is a multi-target night bombing run with heavy air to air defenses. Chances are I'll get bored of trying to get past this, and ditch the game without ever seeing most of the other missions. And maybe I was expecting a little too much, but it's just not that much fun. Feels like work.

It's Ok, but surely any pilot in WWII had to fight against too many planes at the same time
There must be better ways in the design of this game to put it hard to play instead of puting so many planes (like flys) against one which is not very real. The battle of England was the hardest the british fought in WWII and it was one british plane against 4 germans. In this game is one plane in the middle of hundred of flys. It could be more real to fight against few very skilled pilots instead of many and many which is impossible to know who is who and where their fire comes from. The way you handle the plane is more or less real but they should put the players to take off the planes controlling speed and aceleration like with a real plane.

great game!!!
I got this game a little over a year ago and I still like to play it. the graphics and detal good be a little better. you can set the controls to easy, normal, or hard. My friends and I love to play this game but when there is 4 people and its a 1-2 player game it can be frustrating having to compete agents one another. If you like ww2, like to fly, and shot down planes this is a great game to have.

Arcade WWII simulator.
When I bought this game I thought it was going to be a really good flight simulator of WWII-era planes. It turned out to be a little hard to learn and the planes are limited, you get only about a dozen planes, which can't compare with Il2-Sturmovik (several hundred planes with over 20 flyable). The missions are challanging and allow you to fly for one of three sides - Soviet Union, Britain, and Germany. I haven't played the game out yet (I only played two missions), but it could be fun for the younger people. I was able to play tolerably well after initially getting used to how the game works.

Fun game
We've found the game to be largely fun. It has British, Russian, and German planes. The battlefields that are available correspond to those commandants. I wish there were American and Japanese planes (and battlefields) as well. The graphics are good. The response to the Wii controls is generally good. I would recommend this game.
