Q: Will this be good for college?

I just saw it in a TV show carried by a college student! It is rugged, very inexpensive, well made and washable. Big enough for a standard file-folder (my must-have). I use it for my every-day bag. I like the two narrow-end pockets for cell and glasses. They are deep and easy to get to without opening the flap.

Q: Wondering if buttons can be sewn onto the bag?

Yes. It’s canvas material. I assume heavy thread be logical. I actually like the material since easy to clean & basically rain repellent. Perfect for my books, liter water bottle, compartment for pens... light weight. Peter

I don't remember how it was packaged. I noticed no odor.
