Kumamoto Sojourn

i gave this book as a gift, and my sister and sister-in-law LOVED it. My sister was immediately drawn into the book, and my sister-in-law read it in less than two days! They both appreciated the great writing style, and were captured by the story line. We are Japanese-American (sansei - third generation) and identified a lot with the characters and their perspectives, and our hakujin (white) sister-in-law learned more about our culture and way of thinking. It brought us closer together, and is a great reading to share with others. It's also a great sharing experience with my nihongin (Japanese) friends, as well as my other Asian friends (Pilipina, Chinese, Malaysian muslim, French, British, etc.)
