It is complicated if you use all of the features
This is a wonderful upgrade from the old one we purchased on Amazon. The old one did not have some courses, or the holes were wrong.

It won't turn off while charging.
I have used these for several years starting with the original version that had the silicone cover over it. That lasted a couple years without any problems but the battery got to the point where it wouldn't hold enough of a charge to get through one round. I bought the next version and it lasted about 2 1/2 years and also started to die before 18 holes. Also the cap on the voice button fell off. So I bought this slope version about 3 weeks ago. It worked fine for about 4 rounds, but when I tried to charge it for my round tomorrow, the device turned on and would not turn off as long as it was plugged in. It kept searching for a course despite sliding the button to OFF. Oddly, it would shut off when I unplugged it from the charger. Fortunately it is still in the exchange period so I have to decide whether to try again with this version, or go back to the last version which is only a couple bucks cheaper but has a few hours less claimed battery life.Update: I left it on tbe charger to try and get another round out of it before I sent it back. Either the fact that it would not shut off while charging thereby always looking for a satellite signal drained the battery faster than it could charge, or the thing just completely died. When I got to the course the following day, it wouldn't even turn on. Another observation, it just seems to not be as well built as the earlier versions. Although the color us a nicer blue, it just feels cheaper, like if the manufacturing changed. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. I would be interested to hear what the manufacturer says.

Great for beginner and intermediate golfers
I am retired and play golf on average twice every month and wanted an easy way to gauge my shots and this is a great device for the money. For the most part it's accurate on yardage and easy to use. There are some things I wish it would do easier but for the money can't expect everything. Overall very satisfied and would recommend it to any golfer. Love the voice control.

still experimenting
worked fine twice. doesn't seem to want to charge with it off. I am now trying to charge battery when in "on" mode . seems like that might be working. nope, its broken. can't even tell if it charged just makes sound like a camera flash repeatedly and none of the buttons work at all. so essentially I paid 100$ for it to work twice. it's junk and since i've had it since oct. 23" i probably won't get my money back
