wisdom is wisdom
Are these really the words of Gautama or his disciples? Does it matter? No is the smile answer. The fact that haver hundreds of years the wisdom in this collection is simply astonishing. Excellent version really easy to read you would be crazy to not have a copy of this classic way of thinking

Reprint of classic edition but with some mistakes
This is a reprint of the Dhammapada and Sutta-Nipata from the classic 50-volume edition of "Sacred Books of the East" by F. Max Muller. Though it is nice to have this book available, for the wealth of knowledge it brings to the aspiring buddhist, the fact that it is a reprint of 100 year old book means that the language used is old-fashioned (for instance using the second person of the singular, "thou").It is also evident that the text was parsed by OCR as there are some mistakes which are clearly machine-made.Finally, I think it would be helpful to have an index of the sub-chapters of the Sutta-Nipata, as there is none. There is however an index for the Dhammapada.Overall, despite these faults, it is a good book.

Great Translation of old Buddhist Texts
As a practicing Buddhist, it's nice to get hold of some of the Lord Buddha's texts to hold in ones hand and read. This book was and has been a fantastic read. Many of the texts are challenging as references to old pali words are hard to understand, but still the message is clear. My only gripe about this book is it's binding. It is a paperback book with a very paper fine card front cover, time will tell how long this book can survive, I would have happily paid extra for a hardback version. In summary an essential text for fellow Buddhists and others who are interested.
