Baby's First Loom
I've never had a loom before, but I've wanted one for so long. I couldn't justify the price on a large one since I have zero experience, so when I saw this, I jumped on it. What better way to start than with a complete beginner's kit? The kit comes with everything shown, and even comes pre-threaded (pre-loomed?) with some yarn to get you started. It's sturdy wood, and it even has that nice wooden smell (you know the one, it's subtle but pleasant).I can't wait to start making fun little projects on this!

Good starter
I have quite a lot of these for teaching kids the basics of weaving. Most kiddos choose the coaster-sized ones, but for my more ambitious ancient tech investigators these large looms are a great buy.I add rubber washers to the slotted header and footer bars, inside the vertical / tall stretcher bars, so tried tension of the warp threads doesn't pull them onwards and wreck the student's work.Someday I may get to waxing them all, to keep the wood in good shape until I retire! It is just softwood, hence the cost difference to others of similar size, style, accessories.Kids like the "magic bar" (rotating heddle bar). I like that it's included and do fits the warp groove spacing quite well.

Incorrectly notched heddle bar
The heddle bar (the loose bar in the middle with notches that's rotated to lift every other thread of warp so you can pass your shuttle through) has too many notches on it for the accompanying frame. If you put the warp through every notch, as you're instructed to, it will only use half the heddle bar and be very squished together. If you use every other set of notches, you can technically get it to work. It doesn't create a large shed (lifted area), so it's a bit annoying to use. And they only include enough yarn for a couple inches. AND it was preloaded with warp INCORRECTLY. Seriously. I've given it two stars because you can still technically use it, but the whole kit will just be confusing to beginners who will try to follow the instructions and wonder what they're doing wrong. They're not doing anything wrong. The kit is setting them up for failure.
