Great seal, easy to use, good for under 20deg but lid tough to use
We love this waterer as far as robust materials, thick plastic, keeps water up to 20F so far and colder with no problems, hangs nicely and the deep trough doesn't spill water. The plastic wedge pieces on the top when you flip it to fill/put the lid on are a great design as it sits very flat. Our issue is with putting the lid on when it has been filled are that there are 3 slots you have to slide the lid into and it often requires 2 people for the first few dozen times until the plastic slots get 'used' to sliding into the catches on the container. Overall, would recommend.

Heavy Duty - Long Cord - Works - Check your power source
Bought two other brands from Tractor Supply.Saw this and was very eager to have it made in the USA!! The LENGTH of the cord was a bonus! At first snow, the water froze. The other brand did not freeze.Puzzled, I re-arranged how I had it plugged in. I bought a 14 gauge extension cord and added a power strip.IT WORKS beautifully!! It's heavier than the TSC store ones. It also seems to repel the green algea.I haven't had to clean any green yet. But, the other ones from TSC, made nit in USA, I constantly must clean the green out from the inside. Bought a toilet scrubber for the job.I've had it many months now.Still living it!The water is warm.I'm glad they are not drinking cold water when it's 15 out.The base is made much more solid than the TSC ones I have. The cord is a three pronged. The TSC cord is not.I prefer the three pronged.I was wondering how filling would be.Since, the TSC one has a rubber plug at the bottom, no screwing.Turns out, by the third refill, I've own that! No problem. So easy! Now, I refill all my water feeders screwing the base on.I'm actually waiting for the TSC ones to break. So, I can replace them with this Rite Farm heated water feeder!

Ok
When I first started using this , I loved it! But, after having to remove the bottom everyday to fill it, the cord was loosened where it’s connected to the heating element inside. I went out one morning to change their water and it was frozen solid! I was not happy about this, I do change the water daily but, idk how long they went without any. My husband had to take it apart and use electrical tape to tighten the wires. This should have been made with an opening on the top of the container to pour the water in rather that having to turn the whole waterer upside down to remove the bottom, fill it, then put the bottom back on and make sure it is secure before turning it right side up. It’s just to much movement for the cord everyday.

This shorted out because of shoddy craftsmanship
I bought this heater so i would not have to walk to the coop 3x per day in the deepest winter.Just as it got cold this device shorted out the cirquit it was on.It would not work anymore and i did not have time to look at it closer.Today i did and opened up the base. The wires were shoddily connected. It was so bad that some had slipped out of their connections (which were not taped with electrical tape) and then touched on another which led to the short.I have never seen something so badly wired in my life and i am an architect and have seen bad work before. This was a very disappointing purchase.I dont think there is quality control wherever these things are being put together.I would discourage anyone from buying this.

Sturdy waterer, slippery bottom piece.
This has been a good waterer for the price. The only thing I would change is it can be a bit tricky to twist the bottom back on and then flip it upside right without the bottom sliding off and dumping all the water. Still, far from the worst waterer we’ve had over the years. Also easy to clean so that’s a plus.

It worked great, until it didn't.
It worked great, until it didn't. I've had it a few months, and until this morning it worked great. Today is the coldest day we've had (-8°) and I woke up to this waterer having shorted out my entire circuit. Figured it was a fluke, reset the circuit and it immediately blew again. Brought the waterer inside to try and figure out the issue, and the wiring was super janky. All the wires were twisted together with wire screws, all touching and bunched together, and they completely shorted themselves out on each other. Half the wires were melted out of the wire screws. Nothing was insulated or water resistant. We are attempting to rewire, but not sure where all the wires belong, so crossing our fingers.

Heated water. Container for chickens
I live that it keeps the water from freezing. I love that it is as big as it is so it does not need refilled as often. It would be so much better if you did not have to take it apart to fill. We have to haul the water to it and then to flip it over water can spill. To be able to just take a lid off of it and fill it would be so much easier. Otherwise I love it.

Buy a different waterer!
Definitely not as sturdy as other heated waterers I've used. Also if you don't get it all perfectly lined up you end up with a huge mess. The plastic is so flexible that it will bend when you're trying to line it up which makes it a lot harder as well. Also make sure you store it all assembled or the plastic will warp and you won't be able to use it again. The wiring came undone on one that I bought my mom. The basin is pretty fragile and 2 of mine broke. It's also a pain to fill compared to other models. You either have to bucket the water out, or try to carry it out with water sloshing around. I did like the size though but they haven't lasted myself or my mom more than a single winter. There are far better models.
