Test Strips

I had a UTI last month that landed me in the hospital with delirium. There were no symptoms that warned me it was coming. It was frightening. I'd never heard of such a thing but since then I tell folks and they say, yes, they HAVE heard of this.When I came home I was especially anxious about this no-warning thing and wondered if this thing would happen again. I read and read and read about UTIs and about all the testing products you can buy, here and elsewhere, to track how your urine is doing, bacteria-wise (the leucocyte--I think white blood cells--reading.)The more I read the more I realized that the more sealed the test strips are the better. I hunted around and found one product here on Amazon called Urinox-10 Urinalysis Test Strips. These come in individually sealed packets--one packet per test strip--and each packet contains not just the strip (which is well sealed) but a dessicant--silica gel, I think--that absorbs moisture. I ordered a box and began using these--followed the good directions--and did one test daily, watching as the leucocyte reading showed very pale lilac and then as I drank lots of water--something I'd not been doing-- last Friday went completely negative--pure white !!I was so glad about this that I went to order another box of the Urinox strips, only to see on here that they were out of stock! OH NO!!I went ahead and googled the company and left them an email asking when a new batch of the test kits would be available and they got right back to me and said the first week in August and onward.But in the meantime I didn't want to stop the testing, so as an alternative I ordered a box of the Mission test strips. These arrived today and I went ahead and used one.I noticed as I was opening the package that the strips--unlike the Urinox strips--were just loose in the brown plastic container. Once I punctured the foil seal glued to the top I was letting air, light and moisture in. I hurriedly withdrew a strip and closed the bottle. I wanted to see if the bottle contained a little packet of silica gel to absorb moisture but knew that hunting for that would only expose those loose strips in the bottle to more air, light, moisture--so I have no idea if there's one in there or not.Anyway, I went ahead and did the test. It showed a pale lilic for leucocytes, which meant a low amount of them in that sample.Hmmmm.... this was discouraging, as I'd been getting negative readings from the Urinox strips all weekend.Luckily I had a few of the Urinox strips left and decided to drink a big glass of water and test one of those and see how the readings compared to the Mission strip.Lo and behold------> negative for leucocytes!!!So right now I am 100% convinced that the relatively unsealed Mission strips--and others like them--by virtue of that fact don't give a good reading. Besides which, every time I would go to remove one single strip from the bottle I'd be exposing the 90 or so others in there to air, moisture, and light!I'm so concerned about this as I was very ill last month and had no idea what was going on and determined I'd find a way to be ahead of the curve, so to speak, and test once a day until readings came back negative over a period of a few days, then once a week. I'm ordering more Urinox-10 strips and keeping an unsealed box on hand. Also, when I wrote to Urinox they got back to me within minutes-which was nice!OK--rant over! Please think twice about this if you go to order unsealed strips...the Urinox cost more, natch, but it's well worth it!!!

I was buying just the keto urine test strips but then I figured why not just buy these test strips which are the same kind they use at the dr’s office and test for things like UTI’s, dehydration, kidney problems among a few other things that can be indicated from these test strips for the same price as just testing for ketones lol.JUST REMEMEBER, the best time to test is with your first morning urine lol. Second at the latest. I noticed that the ketones would go from like 40 to almost negative as the day went on even though I hadn’t eaten anything. Also these aren’t instant results like with a blood test meter. What you eat today usually won’t reflect on the strips until tomorrow as it has to be digested and cycle through your body first.But! Like with any other urine test, as you drink water your urine will become more diluted and may not show up accurately. It’s like making te. If you have one tea bag in one cup of water, the tea will be strong. If you pour 4 cups of water into it the tea will be diluted and not as strong. So if you have a test strip trying to test how much tea is in that cup, it’ll show up as more tea with just the one cup as opposed to the 5 cups even though they’re both just one tea bag lol.So I’ve learned to not freak out if I check my ketones in the afternoon or evening and they’re almost non-existent. It’s just because I drink a lot of water. So use your first morning urine lol.

If you need the whole picture because of UTI or diabetes, these are the strips you need. The other kind with only 2-3 tests on the strip DO NOT give you enough info to help in any way. Don’t waste your time or money. Buy this kind first. As long as you watch the clock for correct testing intervals they are easy and accurate.

The product is easy to use; fairly accurate but accuracy starts to deteriorate rather quickly after 60-90 days.Keep the bottle cap tightly closed.

Used one strip. But quite satisfied so far. Used as directed. I immersed for 10 seconds and then waited 2 minutes for every pad to show its analysis.

This product decays so that strips change colour before use making parameters such as leukocyte counts useless

Rest are ok only pus cell detection is wrong.
