Most Useful and necessary product if you have limited storage on phone!
This is one of the most useful items that I have needed for ages. Every time my iphone notified my storage is full and cannot take further pictures will now be of the past! FINALLY found a very easy and doable solution and so grateful! When I first plugged this cable it took me just a bit of time to realize I needed to download a specific app (iUSB). That was the only thing that really took me a while to figure out since there were no directions that came with it. Once I saw other reviews though I was soon able to find the exact app needed. After that it was a piece of cake. Seamless transfer and pretty quick. I had more than 500 pictures and videos which I expected to take long to transfer. To superise it was quick and efficient. The other perk is this cable also charges your phone and is still able to function as a memory card reader.

UNIVERSAL SD CARD reader for lightning and USB interfaces. Cool form factor.
Plays all video files advertised on the box. I tested .ogg, .h264, .ac3, .dts, .mkv (AVC with multiple audio streams and multiple subtitle streams), .avi (both divx and xvid), mpeg-4 in .mp4 container, .m4a, .wmv including VC1 video, .vob (mpeg2 video with dts sound). It WILL NOT play mpeg2 video in .mpg, .mts or .m2ts container. It does have a problem with very high bitrate (e.g. 45 mbps) mp4 video from GoPro (playback choppy). Tested up to 128GB card formated in exFAT. Copy to and from iPad is fine, relatively slow but speed seems to be as advertised. Secondary use as microSD CARD READER (you keep the card in and plug the cable to a USB port) is lovely! They do not advertise USB 3.0 speeds BUT I am getting 40 MB/s read and write speed through this cable on 64GB exFAT formated SDXC U1 card that is capable of 85 MB/s read and 58 MB/s write through Transcend USB 3.0 card reader. Very decent! (FYI, you cannot charge your iPad or iPhone through this cable - it the cable was able to do that, I would give it 6 stars.) DEFINITELY A KEEPER. Durability to be determined.

It was great....for a couple of hours
When a product goes out of it's way to mention it's quality in both the description of the item and the packaging, little red flags should be going up all over the place.Theoretically, this product is awesome. Plug in an SD card, use a third party app to read the card and viola.Oh, but if it were that simple. The first warning was the app I was asked to download. Not only did it look shady, but it had a bunch of one star reviews. Oh Oh.....Remember, no reason to get this app unless you have the reader.Well, the app was "just ok" but I was really only looking for a way to play my large music collection offline. I'm going on a cruise and was able to download some music from google play and apple play, I really wanted my entire collection at my disposal. I'm weird like that.Any way, the basic player worked in a pinch and while it could not sort by album it could at least play the files within the folders and shuffle. Ok, problem solved. The answers in this item also stated you can charge and play music off the card simultaneously. And that was working good too, until about two hours later when playback stopped and my phone simply stopped regognizing the memory card. When I plugged it into the computer, it failed to read the memory card as well. The memory card was tested with an SD card reader on the same computer, so it was good. The only thing I can think of is that during charging, some wires overheated and the reader basically killed itself. Yeah.....It's on it's way back to China and I purchased a leef iAccess which looks much better on the iPhone but it's app is even worse that what was on this one.....If that is even possible.Bottom line, It appears there's no "easy" way to piggy back an SD card to talk to an iphone, and each method i've seen either is of poor build qulity like the valkit, has a pretty sketchy app associated with it like the leef.

Best of many options
First of all, you put the card in BEFORE you plug it in to your PC. It acts like a micro sdcard reader that way too. AND it plugs into an iPad/iPhone. AND I have a simple USB-A to USB-C adapter literally tied to it for use on my Androids over USB-C. I already had that. Hey, tie another one on for micro USB...Yes, I've seen the little white dongles, and it seems that they might be cumbersome. I've also seen a lot negative about them. I've also seen the three and four-pronged dongles, and it seems like that would be just plain clumsy. This is multi-use without making me feel like the lightning connector is going to break off in the device. It plugs in, and folds like cloth. It's not stiff like a lot of braided cords are. It's smooth and silky and supple.I would recommend this to anyone who has spare micer sdcards and are considering getting a USB drive. This is just as good and you already have the memory.

Doesn't work with my iPhone 8
I cannot get this cable to work with my iPhone 8, 64gig, running iOS 11 (11.03 to be exact). The iUSB Pro app just says nothing is connected. My iPhone 8 connects to everything else just fine, charges just fine, syncs with my laptop just fine, interacts with my car just fine, but it won't interact with this cable at all. I'm disappointed because it used to work fine on my iPhone 5S.
