TRULY Uplifting and music to my heart !!
A feel-good story with one of the best actresses of all time, Meryl Streep. The performances, the casting, and the soundtrack was fabulous!! An outstanding biopic about one of the bravest teachers of all time. I can't believe it took me 24 years to finally see this movie.

a good movie
Good acting and a good story told well. Not too far off,the way I remember, but that was over half a century ago so I may be "remembering" a little here and there that wasn't the way it was-like war stories,it changes every time you tell it.

Brings back memories
Originally wanted this because of the music video Music of the Heart that was done quite a few years back. Then the price was low enough that I said...eh, it's worth picking it up. Girlfriend came over and wanted to pop it in (which told me that this was somewhat of a chick flick...or what I thought would be) and all in all, this was a great movie. Older style, but I found myself paying more attention to the movie than I was her...which put me in the doghouse...but what can ya do. She is now loong gone and I still find myself putting this on from time to time. Great add to the blu-ray collection. Would highly suggest this. The bonus features are a great addition as well.

Love true stories that end on a happy note!
This story is true and it makes you want to cheer everyone of these kids that learned to play the violin. The sound that comes out of this instrument is breathtaking. The ending is superb. A must have movie to own so you can watch it over & over and you never tire of it. Enjoy! :)

Great movie!
I saw "Music of the Heart," with my parents and my sister in the theatres, when it was first released. This was the first Meryl Streep movie, if not one of the first that I had ever seen. Meryl Streep plays Roberta Guaspari(her best work since SILKWOOD) a greek musician, who recently divorced and moved to NYC with her two kids. And since she doesn't have much money she needs to find a good job. Her boyfriend, hooks her up with a principal of a private school, and although at first the principal is reluctant to hire her, she ends up a long-term substitute violin teacher at the school. Her first group of students aren't very good, but after ten years they get better. But THEN guess what happens? The school board loses money and almost eliminates Roberta's job. And during a conference at Roberta's home, they find out that the only way to save Roberta's job is for Roberta and her students to do a benefit concert. So they book the 92nd Street Y. And then the Y had a fire or something, so they lose their venue. And it seems at that point that the program is really doomed. But fortunately, one of her other friends makes arrangements for them to have the concert mounted at Carnegie Hall. Many of the tunes that Roberta taught her students in the movie are also ones that my violin scholar cousins Emma and Jenny also learned on the violin. This is a great movie, and one that should not be missed.

a feel good story based on real life
when life gives you sour notes you create beautiful music, love how far kids can go when someone is committed to teaching them music & the final scene, love it
