Live World's On Fire

Great... but not Nirvana!
Comment: Well it sure is great to own a Blue-ray copy of one of my favorite bands playing some of (my/their) "best" songs... in a large venue. I would like to have given the Blu-ray a five star rating... but because of the following "mechanical" reasons I knocked it down to four. First of all the sound. I know... I know, there is no way to get the sound of the studio at a large venue. I watch and listen to this "stuff" on bran new state of the art Samsung and "Crown of America" equipment. This concert was "muddy" and less than state of the art... recorded (or replicated) with very little in the way of sound fidelity. Second, the picture. Don't get me started on mixing what looks like state of the art camera footage (HD) with a hodge podge of "other" cameras. When cameras are being used to take pictures of scenes lighted in Reds, Purples, Blues and Greens of varying intensities... along with fast movement (cameras and "talent") ... they tend to produce pixilated abnormalities... as is sometimes observed in closer shots of the band. Some of the scenes pixilated so bad it looked like it was coming from You Tube. Oh and please don't get me started on the center front camera that had a stuck white pixel in the lower third center of the screen... how unprofessional. I guess they figure fans will be "so out of it" when playing back the Blu-ray they wont care or notice. Well before you get the idea that I don't appreciate the effort of bringing this project to fruition... I do. I recommend to buy this Blu-ray if you are a fan... just don't expect "Nirvana".

Music good - Video great
Some electronic-type artists do a fantastic job translating the studio music to live shows. Great examples of live CD's where artists have tweaked the album experience for the better have been Daft Punk and Justice. While Prodigy thinks they're doing it here, the actual live components of the entire act only slightly improve the album experiences.I expected a masterpiece as I always do when Liam is involved. I expected him to come out with some crazy revisions and new basslines to some of the tracks. With the exceptions of "Thunder" and adding a beat to parts of "Firestarter" it's pretty void of tweaks. I do like that they added the live percussion and guitar for the live shows. As previous reviews have said, the show contained no tracks from "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned". Most of the focus is on "Invaders Must Die", as it should be.Maxim pretty much carries the show and works to maintain a good energy on stage and with the crowd. I realize it's a concert, but I'm not sure what 200 "F-Bombs" add to the show. It made Maxim look silly after awhile, not "hardcore" or whatever he was trying to do. Keith didn't add much but shaking his hips. I don't know what's going on there. As much as I want to give the CD/DVD five stars, I can think of better live performances by groups of similar styles and genres. The DVD 5.1 is the best experience. The audio of it is excellent!

Everything you'd want from a live Prodigy CD and lots of extras!
This is a great album, a nice mix of old and new songs, and a really good mix of the overall sounds, it sounds live but it also emulates the amount of bass that was most likely heard if you or I went to the actual show. There's a live drummer and a live guitarist on every track which adds some new flavor to the songs, and the version of Thunder live is in my opinion better than the studio track. There's all these little things they did on each track either extra MC shout outs and adlibs and overall excitement as well as lots of little musical additions here and there. To top it off it also comes with a DVD that has a visual version of every single track on the CD as well as a whole other section from another show with little mini films that show behind the scenes. I have not found out what the easter egg does yet, but I will say I disagree with a warning I read on one of the amazon reviews before I bought this album: the live show is a lot more than just close-ups. The screen shakes at the bassy parts, there's close ups, wide shots, audience shots, lots of flashing, the amount of excitement is very overwhelming in a very positive way. The visual presentation augments the sound really really good. 5/5 100/100 Totally and completely blown away by "World's On Fire"

Must have for any Prodigy fan!
Having seen Prodigy in concert at the Ultra Festival in Miami I had an idea of what to expect on this DVD. This DVD far surpasses my expectations. For starters I am not a fan of Music Video DVD's that have quick cuts to different camera views ever 3 seconds or less. It gets annoying and detracts from the performance. On this DVD the editors have not only used this style, but put it on steroids with shaky camera effects, and rapid fire camera cuts. Somehow, in this case it just works. I can honestly say the producers wanted to do their best to try and translate the energy of the live performance to video and they have done so. Try to watch this without dancing or at least bobbing your head. Try to watch this without cranking the volume, go ahead I dare you! I actually enjoyed this more than the concert since I had a better view and did not have to deal with moshing and not being able to see, etc. I purchased the DVD version (not Blu-ray) but the quality is excellent. This is a very nice package containing the full concert on both CD and DVD plus additional bonus videos taken from various shows on the tour.

Just buy it
Okay. At the time of this review, this disc was selling on Amazon.ca for $13.99. A Bluray disc of one of the world's greatest alternative music acts for less than a $20. Watching this disc was the first timed I had ever yelled and moshed alone in my living room. Sober, even. As a bonus, this disc has all the tour montages previously only available online via Youtube. If that weren't enough, it comes with the cd version included! The cd that sells for $14.99. A dollar more!! 1080i, full digital surround sound covereage of the biggest, greatest concert one of the most unique, identifiable and energetic music acts of today, with another hour of material that was only available in lower quality AND the cd version that costs more alone? STFU and buy it already.

BEST live Blu-ray
I have quite a collection of live DVD/Blu-ray and this by far is the best one yet.The amount of post production that has gone into this disc is amazing. Not only do you get to see all angles of The Prodigy live on stage but you can also feel the music and energy visually.A must have. Add to your cart now.
