Astromania Middle-Sizes Dovetail with one Screw - for telescopes and Cameras

I was looking for a sturdy and universal dovetail adapter for a tripod modification project and this product fit perfectly. The dovetail adapter securely attached optical tube assemblies to a camera tripod without fear of the attached becoming loose and falling off the tripod. The product is constructed of quality materials that I can trust and I highly recommend purchasing this product.

No cheap junk here. These are solid, high quality, all metal clamps for a vixen dovetail bar. I'm using them for holding an upgraded guidescope on an SCT. I will buy these again if I ever need more. Note that what I received did not match the description, but has 2 slotted holes one either side of the central 1/4 - 20 threaded hole. These slotted holes are not clear through holes for M8, but M6. In any case, I like the clamp a lot.Update: I've added a photo that shows the clamp comes with centerline slots and this is contrary to the seller's photos and description in the listing. This hole pattern is similar to the two-clamp model ( I have two of those as well).

I needed a vixen clamp with a solid, flat bottom to mount to another vixen rail on my Esprit 120 to hold a guide scope. This clamp will hold a standard width vixen rail and because its adjustable will also hold a smaller "finder scope" type dovetail such as my guide scope has. There are many holes in the base that offer many mounting options. Fit and finish are exceptional. The satin aluminum finish matches my guide scope perfectly. As another reviewer stated, I would not mount it on a camera hot shoe, but it fit my needs perfectly. I have other Astromania items and they all seem to be top quality. It may be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Very solid, well made piece. My only gripe is it seems there is no consensus on the precise measurement of a "Vixen" type mount, as this will not fit the Vixen style rail on my Astro Tech ED72 refractor scope - the channel in this dovetail holder is too narrow. I might try machining this a bit to get it to work. It does work fine with other Vixen-mount hardware I own (Star Adventurer), so I am not sure just where the problem lies.

Used this to attach my telescope to my star tracker and it works very well. Good quality.

The stock mount on the Sky-Watcher EQ base is okay for the Star Adventurer2i and a camera, but with much more weight you see flex due to it only using the point of a screw, unlike this mount that uses an angled block that holds the dovetail solidly. Even with the Evostar 100ED which is pushing the weight limit
