DO NOT BUY
These are supposed to be carbon steel. It couldn't cut one hook. It put dents in the jaws and didn't leave a mark on the hook. This is softest metal. I had high hopes for these. I like the design, but they used the cheapest and softest metal out there.

Waste of money
don't buy, waste of money. Jaws just bend and flex when pressure is applied. tried to tighten up but no threads left to squeeze the jaws together

take other reviews with a grain of salt
had them for several months now never leaving my boat and their not in waterproof box either. i dont think these are a special pair that i was lucky to get i just happened to do what your supposed to and take care of my tools by putting light coating of gun oil or wd40 on them and voila.. no problems with rust.. some people just think things are supposed to take care of themselves and then when product fails or blemishes they blame it on faulty or inferior product.. in my opinion they are the faulty product.. p.s. package even tells you to oil them duhhhhhhhhh! some people are just stupid i guess

Bulky and Useless
We bought these for the sole purpose of being able to cut fishing hooks when a fish takes it down too far. The very first time we had to use them on a large mouth bass was a disaster. They are extremely hard to grip effectively because of how wide you have to spread them just to get the cutter open enough to get it around the hook. They are so bulky that even with a large mouth bass (which gives you plenty of room to get them in there) you can’t get the cutters around the hook effectively to cut it. They are extremely awkward and ineffective. We could never get them around the hook well enough to cut the hook at all. Ended up - after wasting too much time trying to cut the hook - just cutting the line. Tossed the cutters off the boat as soon as we got home. Totally bulky and useless. I’m sorry I wasted my money on these.

Just will not cut a hook
As soon as I received the tool, I tried to cut a 3/0 hook. It just turned the hook sideways between the blades. Tried several times in different positions, but still had the same result. Looked on YouTube and saw other users having the same problem. Very disappointing as I have Cuda scissors and they are excellent. It was the reason I bought this hook cutter from Cuda. It looks to be of good quality, but just does not cut hooks. Not sure if I may have gotten a defective one, but as I mentioned , I saw the same issue on YouTube. Had to return it.
