38-Inch x 4-Inch Salt Water Series

I am a saltwater fisherman. I fish NJ bay and offshore waters. On Aug 24th of this year, I was fluke fishing in Raritan Bay with my cousin. We caught 4 fluke. The NJ minimum for fluke in NJ is 18" in length. We measured each fluke on the scale located on our cooler. Three of the fluke measured 21", 23" and 25" as measured on the cooler ruler. The fourth fish measured 18". All 4 fluke were placed on ice in the cooler.When returned to the dock are of Sandy Hook Marina, we trailered our Carolina Skiff, and began cleaning the boat. By this time, the fish hand been on ice for over 5 hours. We then secured the skiff and carried the cooler to the dock area to clean the fluke. I went to get my camera to record the catch. When I returned to the cleaning station, I saw my cousin cleaning the fish and a NJ Game Warden was standing next to him. I asked my cousin what was going on and he replied that the Warden advised him that one of the fish was illegal. The warden advised him that the fluke in question was 17 3/4". Under the legal size limit and subject to confiscation and fine. The Warden then produced and measuring stick to check the fish. He had an aluminum scale called a " Checkit Stick". He proceeded to measure the fish and said it was 17 3/4".We told him that we had used the scale on the cooler and he said that it was not reliable and that his device was law.Short story, he confiscated the fish in question and let us go with a warning.I took a cellphone picture of his device and later that evening I went on Amazon and order the larger version for my cousin's boat.This product is extremely well made of aircraft quality aluminum. It has a large hooked lip and is easily mounted with outdoor rated Velcro on the stern of the skiff. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who does not want to be put through the drill that we went through.For the price, it is money well spent !!!

Being retired from my professional career I now am involved in commercial fishing which requires that certain fish can only be kept certain size and number . It is a must to have a accurate measuring device on your vessel.

Great product, numbers still haven’t started to fade after a year.

Easy to read numbers. Strong metal. I can see this lasting a long time.

Bigger than I thought it would be but very nice ruler. Heavy duty! You are going to have to try to bend this thing.
