Little Women (Chiltern Classic)

I absolutely loved this Chiltern classic edition of Little Women. The book itself is a work of art, with gilded edges and a beautiful cover. However, this is only part one of the full Little Women story. I reached out to the seller and they do not yet sell part 2 in this edition. I find it unhelpful that the book wasn't published with the full 2 parts of the story.

This is the first part of the story. Originally, in the US, both books were published as one volume - Little Women. In the UK, they were published as two separate volumes - Little Women, and then Good Wives.In Chiltern's own words from the FAQ on their website:"Is our Little Women classic considered as the 'full version'?No, in the United States Little Women was first published in 1868. Louisa May Alcott soon completed a second volume, which continues the story of the March family. In the US, the two parts were soon combined and published under the title Little Women. However, in the UK, the second part of the story was published separately and called Good Wives. The Chiltern edition of Little Women contains the original first part story. A beautiful edition of Good Wives will be issued in autumn 2021."All the negative reviews don't seem to be aware of this. I hesitated on buying this volume for a long time because I thought it was incomplete as a result of reading the reviews on here - but thankfully that isn't the case. It's really beautiful and I look forward to getting Good Wives to go along with it.

The UK publishes Alcott's Little Women as 2 separate volumes: Little Women and Good Wives. I forgot this and ordered what I thought was the whole American edition of Little Women in two Volumes. NOPE! I got Volume one only. The story about Jo and Prof. Bhaer is in Volume 2: Good Wives. MY mistake.

Buyers BEWARE!!! I was so excited to order this beautiful Chiltern edition of Little Women for my daughter’s birthday only to find that it only contains the first half (part one) of the original text!! Such a disappointment as this important information is NOT listed in the description & should be so buyers can make an educated purchase & not be disappointed. Very expensive for half of a book, especially considering the Chiltern editions of Jane Austen’s books were complete & the same price as this one. Cannot fathom why Chiltern would not include the whole book in their beautiful (and it is indeed a beautiful book) edition????????? I also wish the reviews were separated by proper edition instead of all reviews for every published edition being all jumbled up together. Doesn’t deserve one star since book is not complete & description doesn’t include this information, but had to leave one star to submit review.

A beautiful book, beautifully presented, BUT,only half the story is printed here. This is the original first volume. Volume two, which ends the story, is NOT included. The two volumes are published as a single book in the States, but not by this English publisher. Volume Two is a separate publication. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

This is the most beautiful book but I just wish it was the full book and not just the first half! Chiltern classics doesn’t even offer the second half or mention in the description that this is only half of the book. I tried looking but I couldn’t find it. Just a bummer cause this book really is so pretty

Buyer Beware, while this is a beautiful edition it is ONLY HALF OF THE STORY! I don't know why they are not telling you, but this book ends at Chapter 23. I wish it had the option to buy both halves then maybe it would of been a nice set to have.

The reason I am giving this book 4 stars is because I thought it was the whole book. There should be 47 chapters in the whole book but there is only 23 chapters. Turns out it is only part one of the book what is a shame as I thought it was the whole thing. I should have checked properly to make sure it was the whole book before buying it. Still I plan on buying part two Little Women Good Wives once I am done reading part one. As I do love little women and wish to read all the series.

Bought for 15yr old granddaughter. The picture doesn't do it justice. It has gold leaf edges to every page. She was so chuffed with it.

I bought this for my daughter and we were just chatting about it and it turns out this book only contains 'part 1' the first 23 chapters - there are 46 chapters in total and all the other versions of little women on here contain both part 1 and part 2 !!
