I bought this for my Mercury Mariner premier 2010 model, should fit and it did but here are the issues I had when it arrived today. My idea was to replace the original (even though it worked okay) with this one and then have the old as a spare in case it went bad.I straight away removed my old unit to fit this, first thing to notice was as I tried to fit it into the tail gate the actual metal bracket is very, very slightly larger so adds a bit more fussing around to get it in also one of the bolts hole shad a very iffy thread, it let the bolt tighten but didn't feel correct or turn easily no matter which bolt I tried. The main issue I had was the connectors for the wires to fit to, they were very, very, very tight, I cannot stress how tight they were.I did fit them to test the unit which worked perfectly and I got no warning lights for the tail gate door not closed or anything. But then came to removing it from the car. the original disconnected easily especially the wiring connectors, this one did not, I thought I was going the break the wires trying to get it out, eventually I did but part of one of the connectors was pulled apart with a couple bits still remaining in the lock end of the connector. I had to remove these with pliers and put the wiring connector back together. I removed the whole unit as I wasn't happy the way it fitted and thought what would it be like in a few years if this one failed, i would never get it out.So this unit arrived today and has been returned today as i really had serious concerns about it.I hope this is helpful to anyone thinking about trying this unit, its just the risk you take with these after market units, usually they fit fine but this one was different.For those not sure a mercury mariner is basically a ford escape with a different logo.

I don't know about the longevity yet, but it functions as it should. What another poster said about the connections being tight is true, but really a non-issue.

Perfect fit replacement and works perfect. Replaced on '09 Mazda Tribute (Ford Escape). Old unit would not release latch and this unit actually works better than the OEM. The build quality appears just as good if not better than OEM.

I didn’t install it, but who did, didn’t take to long. Lift gate is working great now. Part was on time and seems great.
