Superb rack - no scratching of bikes!
I LOVE this rack!I have been using a hanging rack for the past 30 years but when we purchased ebikes, one of them a step through, it would no longer support their weight to my satisfaction. So we purchased another high end rack that used a lock down bar that came across the top rail of the bike. Since one of our ebikes was a step through, we had to get an adapter bar so that the "other" new rack would hold down the bike.Unfortunately that caused the adapter bar to push down on the bike during transit and all the bouncing and shaking that naturally occurs while a bike is on a rack scratched a lot of paint off of the bike. So, we returned that rack and looked for one that would not touch painted surfaces to hold the bikes down.We found this Transfer V2 rack that is RV rated, and since that is how we often carry our bikes (with a receiver frame mounted on the rear of our travel trailer) we wanted to try it out.Well, we love it! This rack locks down on the front tire with a large u-hook that has a thick and wide rubber face on it. The bikes are 100% solidly held in place! We even have a front basket mounted on one of the bikes and it still works! We also love that it folds up when not in use, and it folds down so that I can open the rear window/hatch if needed (not that I have done that, at least not with bikes on it). The foot release for the swing up/down function is easy to use and very sturdy. The fact that it locks into place with a special allen key makes sure that it does not vibrate in the receiver, and it helps prevent theft. We also purchased a hitch receiver locking pin since others can obtain that same security allen key tool, so between the two of them we feel the rack is very secure. The locking cable that comes with it is handy for an extra sense of security, but in reality it is just a cable and so anyone could cut through it in 30 seconds or less with a cordless sawzall. Nonetheless, I do not feel quite so nervous about leaving the bikes on the back of the car for 30 seconds when I have to run into a gas station for a drink. Any longer, though, we add our Kryptonite chains to the bikes and then remove them when we come back out, such as when we go into a restaurant or coffee shop. The cable is also very well coated with soft rubber, so I feel that I can leave it on the bikes even while traveling, which you can't do with chains or even the heavy, thick cables that I also have used.Overall a great rack! Very, very solid. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble. I could have been quicker if I had read the directions through completely and then started assembly as I did try to just skim through some sections, resulting in a bit of "rework".

What every biker should buy
The best return for your buck. A little technical to install initially but what an ease of handling your bikes with quick and fast loading and unloading. It is sturdy and fits perfectly onto a 2-inch hitch. Your bikes are safe and secure, it's made for long travels. A security cord is an added advantage. When installed, the internal locking mechanism keeps the carrier intact. No wobbling. Straps are added security. When I am not using it I usually keep them folded. Oh yes, they can be folded and look amazing. I wanted to keep my 3 new bikes secure and wanted something that was affordable in terms of price. This is a middle-tier bike stand in terms of price with top-tier quality.

This is a great bike rack. Perfect value for what you get.
Previous to this rack I went ‘cheap’ and bought an Allen rack for $120. It was really well made but there was an engineering flaw in how they adapted it for a 2” hitch. So I sent it back and spent 3 days researching racks. This rack was a lot more $$$ but was/is totally worth the expense. It’s really well engineered and built. It’s a super smart design that has impressed me.So in my research I saw some people saying it’s hard to assemble. It’s not really. IKEA furniture is more frustrating. I got the 3 bike version, so you are assembling 9 components. The instructions are clear and I did it in our basement on the floor, which made it a bit more annoying. It took about an hour and half. If I had a table I’m sure it would have taken an hour max. It’s not complex, it’s just repeating the same thing 3 times.I will say it’s heavier than I was originally looking for. I wanted my wife to easily attach it to the car. But it’s a little too heavy for her. But it is incredibly easy to attach. You slide it into the hitch and just play with how far in or out until you can slide the pin in. And that pin is key for me - I feel confident the whole thing won’t fall out, which the Allen at 2” didn’t have. But then they have this tool that you use to tighten it up so it doesn’t wobble, and that thing is amazing. This rack is unbelievably sturdy. And it is so easy to use. The design is genius. The U shape means it’s easy to walk bikes in for placement unlike racks that have dedicated rails. And the tire channels also are a super smart design choice. The lock is also a really nice design touch. Once the bikes are off the step pedal makes it really easy to fold it up. And on our VW Tiguan nothing obscures the brake lights. But 2 small issues - when you have bikes on the rack it’s hard to reach the pedal to drop them so you can get into the trunk (great feature TBH, just not easy to get to, but you can work around it.)Second is this rack sticks out quite far and I wish they provided some reflective material for people to see it at night. It’s an easy fix - just buy some reflective tape.If you are looking for a 2/3 bike hitch rack I honestly think this thing is what you are after. Great engineering, well built and apparently they planted a tree because we bought it, so a good company. And I’ve never written a review before (okay I did tell people not to buy that Allen product, but that was more like a warning!) I really love this rack. I like it when something exceeds my expectations, because my expectations are so low these days. Kudos to these folks for all they do.

Excellent and strong product
Easy to assemble, very strong and holds our 3 bikes comfortably. Very well designed. Yes it may be a little heavy, but at least with 3 mountain bikes we don't have to worry about the somewhat unrealistic weight restrictions per bike as some other famous brands have - I think those are only made for lightweight road bikes. We are SUPER happy with our purchase.

Very solid bike rack.
A solid rack. Instructions were clear. However my unit was missing a small screw for the end cap (non-lock side). It's ok because it's still holding tight without it.Functionality was awesome. Fit my Crosstrek very well. The tilt mechanism works for my car with the bike installed so that I can open the boot without taking the bikes off.
