SD Motion - Spiral Liquid Motion Bubbler Timer, Novelty & Fun Fidget Toy, Calm & Relaxing || Suitable for Sensory Autism Toys, ADHD, Anxiety (Red)

I am a child and adolescent psychologist. I work with children every day who are living with autism and/or Sensory integration. This is one of my three toys I recommend every parent purchase. It is the most calming toy. Plus it takes 5 minutes to drain. So a parent knows not to rush but also not to linger. It is small enough you can put it in your purse or bag. And sturdy but not too heavy. (Although I personally do not hand it to a child who is in a melt down moment. I say their name softly and hold it in front of them. And when they calm I allow them to hold it for the second 5 minutes.)

The thing I am most displeased with is that the oil droplets don't come down in a uniform fashion. They merge into larger bubbles shortly after falling from the top and back up on their way to the bottom. They come down really fast at first, and then after a few moments they begin to come down in a more pleasing uniform fashion, with properly separated spacing between oil balls. I used to be memorized by these as a child with ADHD, Depression, GAD, and possibly Asperger's and I got this as a self soothing tool for anxiety. The first part of the oil droplets coming down creates more anxiety for me, and then when they uniform and slow down it is distressing. I am glad that they offered the purple and green item. I think this needs to be half the price however.

I've had this for a few months now and it does what it is supposed to. I have it on my desk and flip it around when I want to stare off in to space.BUTAfter a while I noticed this black stuff floating in the clear liquid. I thought it might be glue, but it is getting worse and I think it is mildew or something. After letting it cycle through once or twice, I think the blue liquid absorbs it or something because it seems to disappear. Very bizarre. If it gets much worse, I'll likely have to toss this one and get another.Also, that giant SD MOTION sticker they put on the end is pointless and ugly. I took it off immediately.

My son got one as a reward for improving his grades. It lasted about 1 day- small drop, less then a foot- and it all leaked out. Very fragile, and poor quality.My son is 10- so he knows how to be carefully. I would not recommend this to anyone considering buying it for a child.

This calms my ADHD tension when my work computer locks up. This happens often. A flip starts the flow quickly, but as it reaches the end the drops are slow which I use regularly to calm my nerves. Sometimes I shake it up in frustration to let it be a very different experience. I call this a fidget tool along with a few others on my desk. They also work for my visiting team members who are waiting for me to resolve their budget issues.I highly recommend this for anyone who needs a fidget "tool", however, it is passive so it works best for the eyes and mind rather than the fingers.

I highly recommend the spiral liquid timer by SD Motion. The colors are beautiful, the yellow has red/pink beads, fabulously engaging. My granddaughter has ADD and her therapist has several water spinners in her office. She said the children became so engaged with the movement that children can communicate better with the doctor. I have ordered several of these products but the spiral liquid timer goes with her everywhere. My other granddaughters use them to get to sleep at night. I love the colors and the durability. The company has been so kind in helping me find the right product. Turn over the colorful water timer and watch the liquid motion effect. Great calming mechanism. I bought this to use as a time out timer for my almost 3 year old. So far we like it.He watches the oil droplets go down the spiral slide, which seems to help him calm down. The timer takes anywhere between 2-5 minutes to finish, depending on factors like temperature, altitude and how many times he tries to grab, tip and shake it lol.It is made from a durable acrylic plastic and has survived many a fall from the kitchen table.

This is so cool! I work with middle school-aged children who have disabilities (Autism, ADHD, and Emotional and Behavioral disorders). I keep this on the desk in my office and it has helped in calming them down when they are upset or frustrated. I have many adults who also enjoy playing with it as well! It has not leaked as some of the other similar products I have bought. The colors are nice and vibrant as pictured. Very satisfied with the purchase.
