Definitely supervise and put down the play mats.
My nephews loved it but made a total mess with the sand but easy enough to clean and pack back up for another day.Would definitely keep these out of reach and for occasions so you can both sit down and play.Its really easy for the kids to play and they loved opening them up and digging out the sand.Had them since Christmas and they are still asking to play with them when I am over so it was a great buy.

Fantastic toy
My little boy absolutely loves this. The individual crates are quite small but once all the sand is mixed together there’s a decent amount. My son enjoys burying the dinosaur bones and then trying to dig them out again with the little shovels. We have since bought another 2 sets as gifts for his friends birthdays

Missing pieces
My son (6yo) loved this little set. You get quite a lot of kinetic sand over the 3 cases. Unfortunately one of the bones was missing so we were unable to complete one of the dinosaur models. I ordered this early for Christmas and the return window has now passed. So annoying!!

Missing pieces. But overall ok
Bought as a Christmas gift gift my kid. She loves kinetic sand. The crates are fragile and don’t look like they’ll hold up long even if it says re-useable. Also missing a “treasure” piece.There is conflicting info above on if you’re supposed to get three or four treasure pieces but in the box (I was lucky enough to receive the box) there was a paper diagram of assembly that shows 4 “amber” pieces.A footprintA “fin” or “scale”A clawA round piece with an embossing pattern (looks like an eye)We did not get the fin/scale piece but we’re lucky enough to have all the bones. My daughter spent a LONG time looking for the missing piece shown and was pretty bummed that she didn’t have all four treasure pieces.She still likes the sand. It would have been good though had the sand in the crates been bagged and not trust the crate. I know the crates came covered in plastic but when you open it there’s a chance the whole thing will spring open firing sand all over hells half acre.

Exactly as advertised but expensive
Son loves this little kit. He’s 6 and it was a great gift for him. He was able to dig all the bones and put them together himself. The only thing I would of like to know ahead of time is you can purchase this cheaper elsewhere ( toys r us $8.99).
