Black is the new ... well, black.
I am a little sheepish about how great I think this slicing knife is. The Japanese steel blade is plated with black titanium, which apparently protects the blade and diminishes sticking, but I also mostly think it looks cool. It has a fantastic edge and is well balanced with its pakkawood handle (don’t ask me what pakkawood is; I have no idea). The knife is part of Tuo’s 'Dark Knight' series, and it does have an aesthetic that fits with the Christian Bale trilogy of Batman films, but only obliquely. My kids think that the Dark Knight allusion is a cool marketing gimmick, although it strikes me as short-sighted, since few grown-ups I know want their kitchen décor to be themed after a DC comics character. But don’t worry; the knife is free from Bat Insignias and the only explicit reference made to the Dark Knight films is on its decorative box.

Decent at this price point, but only if you care for them properly
I bought 4 of these knives (avg. price about $40), and have had them for over a year now. They were all excellently sharp out of the box. Great weight to them. Great look. Great feel in your hand. Cut effortlessly. I appreciate a good knife because I know a sharp knife is a safe knife. So, I have always used either a plastic of bamboo cutting board with these. I hand wash them either as soon as I am done or shortly after the meal while cleaning up. I have always stored them in their original boxes. With all that being said, after a year of use, I have noticed they don't cut as well as they did originally. When cutting a tomato for instance, each blade has "dead spots" along its edge. Spots where the blade simply can't/won't cut into the flesh of the tomato. Once I find a sharp spot on the edge of the blade to "get things started", the blades cut nicely. When they were brand new, they cut effortlessly through any food. This is about what I would expect for knives at the price point I bought them for ($40/blade avg.). So, I'm not necessarily disappointed with these blades, but someone else who is less meticulous about how they care for their knives (cleaned in a dishwasher, thrown in a drawer with everything else, etc.) will probably have them lose their edge within weeks or months. So, if you appreciate using a good sharp knife and know to take care of it appropriately, I would definitely recommend them them if you can get them for about the same price I paid. If you're looking for something with a sharp edge that can stand up to more "normal" use and abuse, I think you'll be very unhappy with the way they hold up.

Thin, light and very sharp, great for my home kitchen
I bought this knife for home use for my sushi creating adventure. Pleasantly surprised how well they work. They are light in my hand and are very sharp which helps with food prep. They look awesome and I ended up buying an entire set.

Made in...
I bought it because I thought it was a German knife. However, it was made in China. It is not sharp enough to be used at work. I bought it to lend it to the staff, but it would be difficult to use it for practice. It was too expensive shopping. I should have read the reviews carefully before purchasing.

It is sharp
I like the sharpness, and the length of the blade, but I would like the width of the blade be a bit more narrower.

Can't beat the quality for the price
At about $57 with a coupon today this is a terrific carving knife. Maybe not professional, but that moniker will cost you a LOT more money.I've had the opportunity to try a few of TUO products and they are all high quality for the price and the black finish and details are very classy.Super sharp out of the box and easily sharpened as it is made of a softer Japanese SS than European blades. It will require sharpening more often but the sharpening doesn't take nearly as much time or effort. As with all TUO products . . .HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
