A bit too much protection
These gloves would definitely protect your hands from teeth, hooks, blades, and anything else fishing could throw at you. This would include fishing itself. The material is so tough and rigid you have no dexterity, feeling, or anything else. I'll admit I didn't use them in the field. Just trying it on at home was enough for me. They were so stiff you could barely get anything done wearing them. Like wearing a semi-rigid plastic glove. Even if they would break in over time this was excessive. I'm 5'11" with decent hand size and strength. Those gloves were huge on me. Felt like I was a kid putting on dad's gloves. For protection I give them an A+. I'd stick my hands near a shark's face wearing those things. For functionality they get a D.However, I would recommend this product for any guys (or gals) that have large hands and forearms, and serious grip strength. You'll be invincible sporting these things.

Too small
I've never thought of myself as having particularly large hands. Large enough, but a one size fits all product should fit. These didn't. I also felt that the fabric was too stiff for my liking in handling fish.

making them useless for small pike
I wanted the gloves for Northern Pike. They are very stiff, making them useless for small pike. For handling big ones they seem ok.
