Hunt the Moon: A Cassie Palmer Novel

Riveting
This is my favorite out of the books so far, but I am a huge Pritkin fan and I enjoyed the intimacy between him and Cassie--not just physical, but the emotional. I agree with some that the action scenes get out of hand at times, but this book has those quiet moments that have had me re-reading them several times. I read the first four books in the series, but then after a long span waiting for the next book, I lost track and started reading Sarah J. Maas. I am so glad I saw something about the new book because I have re-read all the books in a few days. Can't wait to read the next two.

I still love the action
I still love the action, magic and characters. I still don’t love Cassie being the object of whack-a-mole. I would love for her to win once without being ravaged.

Good read, but condition of the book disappoints
I bought this book "used, in good condition". I would NOT call this good. The spine is broken repeatedly and there are spots on the cover where something was spilled. The spots are crusty! I paid just a little under the price for a NEW book. Not happy....

Some answers, but also a lot of frustration
“I felt like I was just marking time, waiting for the next attack. And that was getting really old.” When Cassie says this toward the end of the book, all I could think was YES - I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!! The statement pretty much sums up the entire series to this point, and why I have become so frustrated with it.The series has had no real plot beyond everyone unhappy that Cassie is Pythia and her spending each book trying to survive assassination attempt after attempt. She survives by luck and the skin of her teeth, and has at least one manic chase through time against enemies who can manipulate time better than she can. And the end result changes little except maybe her manifesting a new form of the Pythia power - that she doesn’t know how she did and can’t replicate. *sigh* I was nearly prepared to drop this series after the constant roller coaster. But once again, the conclusion hooked me back in.There is a lot to enjoy in the series, despite the frustration. When Chance finally does offer up some revelations or character development, she makes the effort worthwhile. Here, readers finally get an explanation for why The Power chose Cassie; some backstory on Mercea and his motivations; and a little more character development for Cassie. Toward the end, she finally seems to be letting go of the “poor me” whining attitude that has dogged her from the start, and kept her from being a heroine in her own books. Showing some confidence may be the key to Cassie gaining some control over the Pythia power. Plus, Chance has some unique aspects to her worldbuilding that help it stand apart from other urban fantasies. Cassie powers, especially now that they are expanding beyond just shifting through time, are kinda cool with unexpected potential. I love how Greek, and now Norse mythology, are woven into the stories, and the Vampire politics are incredibly well developed. And, even though I am tired of the the damsel in distress routine, I’m also glad that she isn’t just another cookie-cutter, badass martial-artist heroine. Once she starts using her brain, she’s “badass” in her own way.Overall, the ending hooked me enough that I will definitely read the next book. However, if Cassie doesn’t start to get some command of her powers (after FIVE books) and show some confidence, I may start rooting for the next assassin to put her and me out of her misery. Cautiously recommended.

Awesome series - cannot wait for more!!
The trials and challenges of Cassie are crazy - and her 'trainer' that she is never quite sure if he is on her side or not... (she so messes with him, ha!) - she continues to be torn about her vamp... and just trying to stay alive and keep everyone else alive!!

Really enjoyed this book.
SummaryCassandra Palmer recently defeated a god, which you'd think would buy a girl a little time off. But when your job is being Pythia - the world's chief clairvoyant - you don't get a lot of R & R. Cassie is busier than ever, discovering her power, figuring out her complicated relationship with the enigmatic and sexy vampire Mircea, and preparing for the upcoming coronation. But someone is dead set against Cassie's becoming Pythia, and will go to any lengths to stop the coronation ceremony from happening - including making sure that Cassie is never born. Now Cassie has to save herself - and the world, if she can find the time...The GoodThe most important way I base whether a book is bad, good, or awesome is how many times I could put it down. With Hunt the Moon, I only put it down as it fell out of my limp hand as I passed out from exhaustion.Karen Chance has done it again. The continuation of the Cassie Palmer series was a thrill-ride from start to finish. It had action, romance, and mystery. In this book, Mircea and Cassie's relationship starts to--ever so slowly--blossom. We get insight on how Mircea truly feels for Cassie and how Cassie decideds to handle his controlling ways. There was a little less Pritkin throughout the whole of the novel, but the parts he was in were freaking-fan-tastic. The sexual tension was so hot it steamed the pages. I am truly starting to love the embarrassing reluctance that has come out of Pritkin as his feelings for Cassie become more apparent.I loved the building mystery behind the invisible entity continuously trying to kill Cassie. Its ability to possess and its immunity to Pirtkin's potions made Cassie's survival more surprising every attack.I love that Cassie's mother made an appearance in the book, even if it was in the past while Cassie and Mircea fought for their lives. I hope to see more of her mother's involvement in the future because I think Cassie as a character needs some kind of connection with the mom she never knew.Oh, and we can't forget Marco, Cassie's bodyguard. His character really shined in this book. We get to learn more about him, and I must admit, I now have a little crush. The BadWhat lost the one star was the incessant action that droned on page after page. I rarely am a page skipper, but Hunt the Moon turned me into one. Both the fight and chase scenes quickly become monotonous and boring. I am not sure what Chance was thinking. At some points, I was just lost. There was so much information all at once that I no longer understood who was where, what they were doing, and why the hell they were doing it. But this was only a small part of the book, so its negative effect was small in comparision to how well written the rest of the book was.The SnugglyModerate. There were a few sexual scenes. They were written beautifully. I love the playfulness with Mircea and the unexpected intimacy with Pritkin.OverallI would recommend reading this book as well as the whole series. I think each character adds something special to the wonderful world Karen Chance has created. The concept is original, and the action is exciting (most of the time anyway).

Pythia vs. Sons of Ares
Cassie Palmer clairvoyant extraordinaire is days away from her coronation as Pythia. Unfortunately someone does not want her to get to it. While dealing with multiple attempts on her life she is trying to learn how to use her abilities, date her Vampire boyfriend and deal with her slowly growing feelings for her Warmage bodygurad. One of my favorite books in the series!

Just ... Wow
This series is perhaps, one of my all time favourites.Karen Chance has delivered an amazingly humorous, sexy, witty, fast paced and action filled book filled to the brim with the characters we have grown to love.I honestly don't think it is possible for me to love Pritkin any more than I do now after reading this book.He has come "alive" to me and I really think of him as a real person (I know, that's pretty sad!)I cannot wait until the next book.Keep up the good work!!!

Love this series
Karen Chance can write. Need I say more?I've been following her work since book one of this series and every time I think she can't keep it going, she delivers. I think good writing comes of good characterisation and oh yes, a story people actually want to follow, Hunt the Moon has all these elements. The good thing is, you don't have to have read the first book in the series to enjoy this one, but it doesn't hurt.I particularly love the relationship Cassie has with a certain English Mage and for me, this is far more interesting than the one she has with the Master Vampire Mircea. You can tell Ms Chance is a fan of this genre, but that she also kept her head and kept the focus so there is depth to the writing.Having the constant Las Vegas backdrop is also a plus and it's the one series where I'm not bored of the Vamps.

This may be my favourite
Another outstanding entry in the Cassie Palmer series, big twists, lots of action, some steamy scenes (the car scene!) and a while lot of new characters to get attached to. Please read this series, it’s a gem of Urban Fantasy,

Didn’t expect that
Fast paced, at times frustrating that things always seem to end in a mess for Cassie, but amazingly well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat
