This is a Naniwa S1 Super Stone
Keep in mind S1 stones are 10mm thick and therefore come on a stand. The box says "Naniwa polishing industries" and has their prawn logo on the face. This is their consumer grade brand - meant carpentry and general woodworking, kitchens, razors, etc. Has no problems biting into HSS at 64HRC, it scratch pattern is consistent with its grit size and similar stones from other manufacturers. The price at the time of writing is about the best you can find online taking shipping info consideration.

Soft stone. Is it really a ceramic?
This may be user error but i gouged the stone with my knife on accident. Didnt expect stone to be that soft.

good value. but a couple things...
i got a full set of these naniwas they all work great but all have the same two problems, one isnt a big deal the other kinda is, so i could only give this 4 stars.the first problem is that none of these naniwas were perfectly flat, they were all convex (had a small hump in the middle)not a big deal, this wouldn't really cause any problems sharpening blades, i used them all like this and the blades came out great, shaving sharp. i did flatten them later though and that was really easy.the other thing is they load up easily (get clogged with metal shavings) even though the blades i was sharpening were small. this is a bigger problem because they slow down A LOT when they load up, so you may need a cleaning stone, naniwa does make a small cleaning stone for their hones but you could also use a fine diamond hone, just rub it on the surface to clean off the swarf.but at the end of the day these are really good stones they work my blades are SHARP

Don’t buy!
Finally got to use it. The grit is inconsistent. There were large grain grits that scratched up my Damascus knife. Bad product. Packaging did not indicate Naninwa anywhere. Most likely OEM. Do not buy. It’s now past the refund period.

Got my knife so sharp I accidentally cut a small chunk out of the stone !
We'll worth the money !

Excellent sharpening stone
Naniwa superstones are excellent. I did have to flatten the stone first (as expected from Naniwa's product info, as do all similar ceramic stones), which only took a couple minutes to do. Once flattened it made quick work on my handplane blade (hard A2 steel). I fully expect many years of use from this baby.I will note that the stone was 10mm thick (not 20), though. The stone comes with a plastic stand, which was rigid.
