Great debut
Lucky McKee is a directorial force to be reckoned with. First came across his work with 'The Woman' at 2012 Frightfest. Astounding filmmaking and horror with a message in the vein of 'Martyrs '. Then The Woods, which too showed how creative and competent a director he is. May, his freshman film does not disappoint either. A study in madness, very much in the vein of Repulsion ( Polanski) and with touches of Carrie (De Palma) is higely effective, with a sympathetic lead actress and a superb scary doll. The aural design is superb too, using the cracking of the glass frame of the dolls container to symbolise May's inner turmoil and eventual severing from reality. The Lesbian scenes are not exploitative and the romance with the boy is sensitively handled and bittersweet. Marc blake co author. Writing the Horror Movie.

Interesting Film
I liked this modern take on the Frankenstein story.Although it's quite slow to start, it builds nicely to an expected, but simultaneously still unnerving, fnale.Angela Bettis is great as the unhinged eponymous character. This film is worth taking a punt on in my opinion, as its a well crafted and interesting effort.
