Great comic and short series!
I really love this comic series. It is sad but adorable at the same time. The two characters have so much chemistry together and love for each other. Also, the drawings Matsuri Rhino does are great! I love her comic stories, especially Vampire Knight and would definitely recommend this to a colleague or friend who was interested in anime.

Romantic Comedy
College student Meguimi Kuroishi is leading a life of luxury. The wealthy family that his father works for disappeared in China 14 years ago and Meguimi expects to inherit the estate when his father finally admits that the family is dead. Meguimi's plans are abruptly changed when 17 yo Suzuka Kogami, the only surviving family member, returns from China. Meguimi learns of the Kogami curse that requires that he obey all orders issued by the Kogami family! This third volume had a more consistent plot/story line than previous books in the series. Meguimi and Sagara go to China to try to find a way to break the Kogami curse. Unfortunately, the curse is so strong on Meguimi that they have to return the same day. This leads to a more detailed story about the Kogami curse and how it came to exist. Rui, a new maid and childhood friend(?), of Meguimi appears to briefly give Suzuki some competition for Meguimi's love. Manservant attacks and a cat fight between Suzuka and Rui add to the humor.Although the chapters of this book segued cleanly and were a clear improvement, Sagara and Rui lacked depth. Sagara is transgender, we know this because Meguimi repeated the phrase 'when you were a guy' so many times. I have nothing against a transgender character appearing, but it seemed that the main reason for Sagara to go to China with Meguimi was because she was strong enough to carry him so that they could get on the plane back to Japan! Rui has had a crush on Meguimi for years and beginning work as a maid to pursue him. However, within a very short time, Rui has been told by both Suzuka and Meguimi that Meguimi is in love with Suzaka. Rui is determined to be the best maid she can be! (and not to give up on Meguimi). As a series (total of 5 books), Captive Hearts never seemed to have a consistent story line (beyond the central curse & romance). I don't regret buying/reading all five books, but the story telling could be improved

3 stories
The bulk of this volume, about 160 pages, is the main story with Megumi and Suzuka. I really liked how their romance is developing and we get to learn more about the original curse. Then we get another romantic short story, "The Long Night of Father Christmas" and a very short piece which explores the original curse of "Captive Hearts further.
