Raymond Pettibon: Homo Americanus Hardcover – April 26, 2016

Pettibon, if you know his work, or not, this is a great entryway for all so inclined. There is a lot of profound and sardonic social commentary in his art. In addition to the pictured works, great detailing and insightful guest opinions really make this collection educational as well. Pettibon is much more than a bands' flyer slave, and this rings true loud and clear in viewing the great variety and aesthetic vestages. Go pick one up, and support artist who are helping expand the ever evolving ideas reflexive to the world we all live on.

Before I knew Pettibon as a visual artist, I knew his work on flyers and record covers for bands like Sonic Youth and Black Flag. This hefty tome covers so much of his career, offering a ton of pleasure to whoever is lucky enough to thumb through its pages. A great addition to any bookshelf or coffee table. If you're an art lover, a fan of punk rock, or just think acid is groovy, this book might be for you!

You didn't end up here by accident, you know own who the artist is and he's done. If you're looking at this and wondering, should I? You should. Covers a wide period of time (including the flyers and albums) and has neat little write ups by the artist. Just get it.

Pettibon is one of the best contemporary artists working and this monograph reflects that with its extensive collection of beautifully reproduced images and excellent accompanying texts. Insightful interview excerpts and thematic arrangements highlight the presentation. It's a hefty volume and well worth the investment. Two thumbs up, five stars etc.

Fabulous book I love his art and this has a huge selection of it- If you are easily offended don't buy it.

Some amazing illustrations in here from one of my favorite "Punk" artists. I was not disappointed by the image quality throughout. This is one HEFTY book!
