Sturdy, well made
I bought this and a Pacific ruler on Amazon, since I couldn't really choose looking just at pictures, descriptions, and reviews. No question this is the better ruler for me. It is thicker, and I like the feature of a thick cutting edge. It is easier to read, and just seemed like better quality, even though this was Aluminum, and Pacific was stainless. No contest for me, the Shinwa was the best, hands down.

This is an AWESOME Cutting Ruler
WOW, I just love this cutting ruler, it is now my go-to ruler for cutting, it stays put when you want to cut something, that is because of the rubber pad on the bottom side. I fell in love with it the first time I went to use it to cut some Foam-core material. It worked like a champ and was so easy to use.Definitely give this a shot, the markings on it are very easy to read and when you put pressure on it as you start to cut, it stays put and the blade follows the straightedge like a champ. Great cuts each and every time. I highly recommend this product, definitely give them a try.

measure twice...hell, measure all the time.
I've owned a lot of rulers over the years...wood, steel, aluminum. Each have their own set of pros and cons...my favorite being aluminum, due to it's lightweight property and the ability to upcycle 100% of the material at the end of the product lifecycle. The major downside to aluminum rulers is the fact that aluminum is itself a very soft and malleable metal. If you do not take proper care and hang or store them in a specific place after every use, they will be prone to bending or denting. Also, other aluminum rulers I've owned either use a very low quality non-slide foam or plainly none at all. This ruler is different though...this ruler is built like a tank. The rule markings are very clear, the foam backing is a nice quality that is applied properly and most importantly, it is a very sturdy ruler in construction.Whoever designed the extrusion die, knew exactly what they were doing. It is essentially an I-beam with a drafted section that meets the paper or whatever material you are measuring. I-beams are good...I-beams hold up basically everything built around us. This is the sturdiest $%#¥! ruler I've ever used.I couldn't seem to find a metric rule on amazon...but I will find one, buy it and have it shipped to my door immediately!5 stars for this awesome ruler.

Love the Shinwa accuracy
*Accuracy and attention to detail I’ve come to expect from Shinwa*Rubber backing is sticky enough and easily cleaned if gets dusty*Raised ridges in aluminum provide adequate feeling of safety while cutting, but not going to prevent user error* Accurate enough for just measuring and marking, firm-hold for cutting almost a bonus*Wish Shinwa made more tools available in Imperial or dual Metric-Imperial!

GREAT so far
I misplaced my 18 inch stainless ruler I used mostly as the straight edge to cut material. It would flex a lot. I got this at 24 inches It is very meaty, flat and true. I really expected it to be all bent up from shipping. The foam backer is perfect, not too thick like the obligatory stainless rulers and it stays put. I could see where one might need to clean it as it lost its stickiness. from dust and stuff.I can make a very long straight cuts and this ruler will stay straight and flat unlike my old one where I would have to move my fingers down every few inches. I LOVE IT.The only concern I have is the edge is just the aluminum ruler material and could see where your cutting tool could/would cut into it but not yet.
